Anyone got one of these working together with a Nokia handset? Any good?

Great free GPS app, which works on Nokia handsets in conjunction with heart rate monitors. Logs useful detailed information on you fitness etc. Upload/download rides from your handset to/from this site: www.sports-tracker.com

We're about 6 weeks away from launching a thin merino shirt with the harness integrated reduces contact pressure and spreads the weight a bit as well as logging a bit more than HR. Integrates with an Android App so you get HR, respiration, temperature from the shirt then GPS location, speed, distance, height etc via the handset and also integration with the Velocomputer Power meter so you get L/R power, total and cadence. I'm using it in Beta now and its fantastic.

The belt is reported to be working quite nicely but it needs battery changes fairly often. I heard that some (ADHD)-active folks have had to change the battery about once a month but more normal users are still using the original after 3 months.

It doesn't work with Sports Tracker. It's not Blue tooth as far as I can see. If you look at the FAQ's further down the question has been asked about compatibility and the answer is no. The one on the ST website is the Wearlink+ with Bluetooth. This one connects to gym equipment such as treadmills, rowing machines and the like.

The question when asked is answered "Hi Michael Yes ofthe(sic) phone is compatible with Polar". Suggests that the strap will work with the phone to me.

What makes me think the strap isn't Bluetooth is that the only bluetooth HRM strap I've found costs approx £100 from the states, and Polar being Polar, they've never really been known for bringing out cheaper kit when a more expensive option is possible.

given the std straps are about this price, it does seem cheap.

I've had the bluetooth version that I got direct from the sportstracker website since July. I've only been using it for info, not for any specific or in depth training but I like it.

It's the Bluetooth version and is fully compatible!

Surely other places sell it at much more competitive prices though.

A model number would clear up the confusion.

AAH!

I searched all over the place for these when I downloaded sportstracker ages ago. They were only available with a phone that Nokia specially made and only sold in Germany or something.

I really want one, since my HRM has broken anyway...

BTW I think I have an old beta of sports tracker, it's good but the GPS signal is not smoothed out, which means that the speed reading is all over the place. Is it more consistent with a newer version?

Oh and how do you folk carry your phones whilst running?

Something like this maybe.

A model number for the compatible version would help though. Molgrips I think it was the N79? The new version of Sports Tracker is much better and doesn't have the odd speed readings. Whether that is down to the phone GPS (I was previously using it on the N95 and now using the new version on the 5800 XM)or the software IDK. The 5800 GPS is very good though as phones go and I can get a signal indoors accurate to about 10 feet.

I looked high and low for something to fit my phone (Nokia 5800) that would go on my arm like the iPod ones, but couldn't find anything useful.

However with sportstracker I think I might like to have it so I can read the screen as I go.

Considering just how popular the 5800 is I'm surprised there isn't even an official Nokia armband.
