I am tired and it is Sunday morning. Please confirm these Avids can be replaced by IS Mount Shimano.

brakes are post MOUNT but brackets are IS - may need new adapters depending on rotor size
Link to brakes does not work

Sorry to hijack the thread but can some one tell me if my 09 F100 Fox forks are 6" or 7" post mount, for example is it some thing I can measure on the the bike with a rule?

I'm currently using Shimano XT with 160mm rotors if that helps.

Edit: I want to up grade to these in 180mm guise...

b r - Yours if you want them. Make me an offer. Not in bad nick but slightly sticky piston in the rear. Probably can be sorted with a bit of careful maintenance but I am crap at that sort of stuff.

If you are interested I will get some better pics. I have a few sets of spare pads I can through in as well. The hose at the calliper end of the rear brake as a little damage but I think it is cosmetic, doesn't stop it working.

they are post mount as well
take caliper off the mount and fit new brake caliper to it and you are done.
IMHO the brakes you have are FAR superior to the ones you are buying.

But neither the LBS nor I can stop the rear one rubbing after 100m of riding. Into workshop, set up brake, spin wheel perfectly, ride 100 m, brake rub. Repeat.

b-r - You can ignore the posting above please. 😉

Why are the Avids so much better? I have Shimano on the other bike and Avids on this one. They both stop me quickly and can allow modulated slowing down. The only noticable difference is the Shimanos were fitted and I have done nothing to them since except change the pads. The Avids I have struggled to get set up and had to pay an LBS to do it as well.

What makes Avid better?
