Evening all,

Just been installing my new gear, Stans Flow S1s and a 1x11 SLX Groupset. I’ve tried to install the 11s cassette but there is a fair bit of play in it when the lock ring is tightened. Am I missing something? It’s an 11s Shimano hub and an SLX M7000 11-42t cassette.

Someone tell me I’m missing something easy! Even with the 10s spacer is still had play in it!

Cheers

Colin

I didn’t use the spacer and there’s some play in mine, I might try fitting the spacer tomorrow..

This is an abnormal amount of play though, definitely couldn’t ride it the way it is. Have double checked the Stans box and it’s definitely a Shimano freehub.

Have you definitely put all 11 cogs and spacers on? Count them... And count them again. And look for spacers between each cog. Wouldn't be the first time either s cog was not put on our website spacer missed off so two cogs butted against each other.

You are supposed to use the end spacer. 11 speed freehibs are wider for 11 speed road cassettes. 11 speed MTB are narrower, same width as 10 speed, so you need a spacer at the spoke side.

Thanks chaps. Yes I counted the spacers quite a few times, kept thinking I was missing one.

I’d say about 1.5mm or so.

Forgot to say mine isn’t the Stans wheelset, but a speshi one, I’ve refitted the cassette with the spacer, lost a cog for a bit as it flew across the room and couldn’t figure out why it was worse with a spacer... but all sorted and fitted perfectly now!

Those wheels need the spacer fitted before the cassette goes on to remove the play.

So you have the spacer on yes? Does the lockring get any bite at all or does it just spin on?
