[#10116285]

Pace RC 405 and Beone Karma nicked from Round hill campsite in the New Forest night before last, buggers cut the locks connecting to the van whilst we were sleeping in it!

The Pace has got dt forks and hope brakes, wheels etc, pretty unusual as it's so old, I'm really gutted though because I loved it. If anybody sees anything Southampton way I'd be much appreciated.

Worth thinking about if your camping in the New Forest, pretty sure we were cased during the day and they came back at night - it was only our bikes plus one other that was stolen on a massive campsite.

I think there's been quite a bit of targeted bike theft from some of the new Forest campsites. not lots of bikes stolen but definitely targeted thefts of decent bikes. I posted on another thread on here recently about it. The Police are on to it but obvs no success yet.

I'll keep my eyes peeled but I bet the bikes have gone further afield.

Have you reported it to the Police? Do you have any pics of the bikes?

Out of interest, what were they locked up with?

Will get a picture. It was locked with a fairly chunky cable around the back wheel, but still susceptible to bolt croppers.

Police said there is no line of enquiry for them, so nothing doing. Pretty sure the Pace must be fairly unique now as there aren't many left of them still being ridden.

I am pretty local and I know the local copper here is also a cyclist. He's been quite proactive warning residents through his monthly email etc. I can chase up what Camping in the Forest have been doing to warn those staying on site.

Ironically some friends of ours stayed there since the bikes were nicked, and they were warned that there had been bike thefts recently.

I think I might drop a line to camping in the forest though, security there is woeful. The staff on site were very helpful but essentially it was a shrug and a it happens.

Someone stole the New Forest? That takes a lot of gall.

Seriously though, the over-arching concern is the lack of security as a whole. The management company for a campsite of this type should not be shrugging this off.
