Hello.

I'm thinking about buying a Pipedream Sirius or an On One Inbred frame in 18". I don't want to pay more money, so please don't recommend a Cotic Soul or similar to me :).
Are there big differences in the ride quality? The geometry tables look similar. The Inbred is 1cm longer (toptube), the sirius headtube is 1,5 cm longer. the headangle of the sirius is 69° to 70° at the inbred. but i don't know which fork size they took for measuring, so maybe its even the same..
the sirius is bit lighter though, more even with the new 725 tubes.

do you have real world experiences with these frames? i'll use an old fox talas with 90-130mm fork, a short stem and long riser bar. riding type: singletracks, with small drops/ jumps included. so a bit more downhill oriented than normal xc, but don't want to cut back at going uphill.

Ragley Blue Pig, luverly 😆

I have just had my 3rd outing on mine. Bit of a hike a bike and I lost the sole and cleat from my shoe so probably not the best way to give a ride report 🙁

But anyway from other rides it climbs well, goes along well, the 18bikes test bike went downhill very well and seems to be pretty stable at speed. All good imo 😆

Today I had a go on my riding buddies Dialled Prince Albert along the forest road, it felt just as good. He had a go on the Pig and was impressed.

I had intended to try a few other steel bikes, liked the Pig imediately so bought one.

thought the Prince Albert and the Pig are more like the 456 than a Inbred , changed my P/A for a Inbred much more springy feel and not so hard on my back .

I have had a bad back for many a year. That was a reason I bought the Pig. 25mls of Peaks riding with no twinge whatsoever 😆 That surprised me given I made no adjustments to the demo bike. Was out for 3.1/2hrs today and again still no niggles. Did start to niggle on PA but seat and bar adjustments may/would have fixed that.

My Inbred's 853. Reynolds will be very cross with your calling it gas pipe...
Tho' that is the SS. The other one's normal cro-mo, but it's wearing 160mm forks, so hardly what you're looking for. From all the comments I've read over the last few years regarding the Sirius and the Inbred they're both very much alike, both very much loved by their owners, and a lot comes down to personal preference vis a vis aesthetics and ubiquity. Popularity is usually as a result of great vfm, not just blindly buying something 'cos some twonk on a website sez so.

Have to agree.
I had a shopping list which included a P7, Genesis altitude and the Pig.
The Pig since I liked the engineering solutions used re the chainstays and rear brake mount.
I rode it, liked it and bought it. Simple as that 🙂
The Pig is a substitute for my trusty Bontrager Priv of some 16yr old vintage. The Bonty will be getting a makeover and will be back in use sometime in the future 😀

thx for the answers so far.
so you would recommend a ragley blue pig over the inbred and the pipedream for my kind of use? apart from performing good on trails and downs it should be possible to do all day rides with lots of peaks, too.
do you think the ragley blue pig with the talas fork traveled at 90mm for ups and 130mm for downs would be a good idea for this?
is 90mm on a blue pig a good idea at all?
or would the inbred/ pipedream suit my needs better?

You don't need any travel adjust on a Blue Pig. I ride at 140mm up and down without lock out or travel adjust.

Your "a bit more downhill oriented than normal xc" suggest you'll get on well with it.

My PA is the 853 version that Trekster mentions above. I had an Inbred before but chnaged to the PA recently. Both bought 2nd hand off here.

I find the PA more comfortable than the Inbred and less "harsh", but that could be the revs I put on it, and the fact it is a slightly bigger frame?

Comparing both I would def prefer the PA/ revs combo (sorry Brant) since I find the geometry/ ride better.

ok thx.

few more questions:
- back to the inbred: the standard inbred since last year is build for up to 130mm travel. i would only use this setting for going downhill i think, how is the feeling with 130mm on the inbred? or would a 456 or a blue pig would be better for this?
- would the blue pig suit the fox talas with 130mm well, because its at the lower end of the recommended fork travel?

so again the goal is: a bike to do it all. should be able to ride all day with peaks, but also for having fun on singletracks and descents. i think the talas fits this pretty well, at adjusting 90-110-130. now only a frame is missing :). an advantage of the standard inbred would be: i can use my old wheel and avid ultimate vbrakes on the back and would go for a new wheel and a mechanical avid bb7 on the front. so this would be the cheapest option for me 🙂 but the question is again: will the inbred be fun to go downhill at 130mm, or should i go with the blue pig or the 456?

what do you think?
