I rode from stafford to Cardiff, starting last thursday over 3 days, over 200 miles total at about 70odd each day. Since I've finished on saturday evening (it's now monday afternoon) I've had pins & needles in the pinky finger and the one next to it on my left hand and I can't get rid of it. Shaking vigorously, hot/cold water, nothing has any effect. Any other ideas or should I get to the doc?

Sounds like you've compressed the ulnar nerve a bit. Should wear off after a few days.

Wot he said.

For next time, get the pressure off your hands - new bike, changed position, padded gloves etc.

Doubt the doc can do anything. The buzzing will stop eventually, maybe. I once had the same in middle finger for 5 days - and I'm still alive 20 years on.

I had this recently and visited a chiropractor who, despite my initial scepticism, cured me in three visits. Good luck with sorting it out. Slightly scary, annoying and uncomfortable.

I think all the sensible advice has been given so I can only add that on one occasion my penis was numb for about 20 mins after a turbo session. I didn't even realise until I went for a pee ๐Ÿ™ I changed the angle of my saddle before getting on that bike again. All will be happy to hear my penis regained full functionality ๐Ÿ™‚

Specialized BG full gloves have an Ulnar pad for this reason.
Try moving your saddle back a few mm too , might relieve the pressure on your hands slightly.
I have still got hand numbness 3 weeks after a 10 day Alps trip, rsi after braking with a death grip for hours each day.
decided to keep riding as its the end of summer and wanted to get some quality miles in

mine lasted 2 weeks after 7 days in the Alps. This was the first time I've had numbness. It's back again after yesterdays ride despite being on a totally different bike.

The only change I' made is that I've started using an i-touch :S
