My lbs saves the tubes. A women comes round for them every now and then. She makes bags and wallets out of them.

Counted seven patches on one of mine the other day. I only chuck them when I get a puncture right next to another patch because the patches don't stick too well one over another, or when the rubber splits around the valve, then it's borked.

Actually, more seriously, I set myself a limit of 2-3 patches, after which I dump the tube - well, hang it up in the garage anyway. Inner tubes are useful for loads of things so it's worth having a stock.

take the core out if it's presta and removeable to re-use on a tubeless set up
