Makes perfect sense. the luxury brand groups like LVMH and Richemont are looking to diversify into growth markets and not be limited to product areas that are exposed to a slowdown in china like the watch sector.
Pinarello does the volume to make it worthwhile but still has a strong brand and premium price unlike buying a brand like cannonade/ridley/lappiere etc.

At my sons private school there is a bloke who all summer would turn up in his big Audi with a Pinarello on the roof.
A group of men would then admire this man and is wonderful machine. Not sure the bike ever came off his car roof.
So just like handbags, its a statement. 😀

Flashy - Those will definitely be on sale in the UK but they're a bit "de trop" for Paris or Milano. Expect an e-bike or at least a city bike akin to Philippe Starck's monstrosities from a few years back.

Popped into the Pinarello Experience this morning in Puerto Pollensa (half term holiday with family, no riding) for some bike vibes, impressive bling ... 😀

They should have bought Look and/or Time instead, nicer top end bikes and importantly French. Plus both have room for growth and improved market share.
Pinarello are just yuk imo and nowt special. If it is going to be Italian then Colnago is the proper choice.
Pinarello transitioned from being a brand for cyclists to a fashion item years ago - SAS has one FFS. Perfect acquisition for them.
