Going to be hitting up Les Arcs etc in Aug and will pop over the hill for 3 days and stay on that side. Have two days planned for La Thuile and was thinking of a day at Pila. Seems to be DH oriented however - is my assumption correct or is it a mixed bag? Will have enduro bike rather than a DH rig.

Cheers

Bike park is very much DH focused, however go exploring and you will find some of the best enduro style trails anywhere in europe. Take the walking path up from the top of the lifts, up to the col and the viewpoint. Youll be rewarded for your big hike with a phenomenal view, then look down the ridge.... follow your nose. Just be careful to keep the correct side of the valley, Theres at least one obvious fork, go left. Trailforks is your friend.

Theres a lot of stuff off that hike up leaving the trail at different points and some fantastic old trails off the far right of the piste map too.

i went for a day once when i was in Milan for work. hire shop (at top of Aosta gondola) wouldnt let me hire anything other than a full DH bike when i told them i wanted to ride the park and descend to the valley floor a few times! there wasnt that much to warrant it on the ones i rode, id have been much happier on my own trail bike and could've pedalled up a bit higher too.

so yeah, defo be reet for a day on an Enduro bike.

Ridden it on an enduro and DH bike. Enduro was better for me. Is the top to bottom about 5km. The second half is more fun once your in the dust out of the bike park. Italian bike resorts are great and always seem pretty quiet to me.

I did a day with aosta freeride last week. It was pretty amazing, van uplift and a small amount of pedalling so definitely enduro bike. I assume they mainly do groups but might be worth asking. Would be tricky to navigate trails on your own. From the park try the 21b to aosta.
