Flamejob - How did you do the 'B' in Bitch please?

@snoop I'm a bike snob at heart; there is this weird vibe you get from people on 'expensive' bikes, but I'm over that now ๐Ÿ™‚

@PeterPoddy After I painted the flames on the forks (at midnight I must add, hence the hack job), I stuck some tape on the frame and squirted some gold over it. The flames were suposed to fade to gold, but I couldn't see what I was doing.
Go on... do it!

Amen to that. I swapped a Yeti 575 for the Pitch: It's amazing how many people called me stupid, or just can't understand why.

So basically, you masked it off and sprayed it, that tiny bit on the 'B'?

How do you find the Pitch compared to the 575?

@PeterPoddy yeah exactly! It's really easy... 4 bits of tape and it's done. I think the colour is an old Ford colour.
Like you, I have owned all kinds of bike (mainly pimped to the max), but this one is just totally brilliant. I found the brakes a bit spaz though....

... and I'm thinking of putting some TALAS 36s on it

The pitch is the first Specialized I have ever felt the need to own, mainly and probably wrongly I think it would ride like a Orange Blood but is half the price!!

Well, it doesn't climb as well, but that's to be expected because it's heavier and slacker. It's lower specced so the drivetrain isn't quite as crisp. And being a Spesh it's lower so you clip your feet occasionally, but the trade off is stability. I've had a Stumpy FSR before and loved it.
But the Pitch's suspension is better controlled, the back end is solid as hell (I found the Yeti flexy) and I love the handling downhill. Solid and confident, an absolute blast. The Yeti was maybe a bit smoother, but the Pitch is more accurate I reckon, due to the extra stifness

The Pitch does what it says on the tin, basically..... But very VERY well.

I rather fancy one.It seems to me the replacement to my 06 Enduro. Reckon big S took the SX too far 1 way and realised that the new enduro was OTT for many and they had lost a slot in the market. Add some 36 Vans and it would be brilliant.

It's a whole new sticker. Bought it off a bloke on here a year or so ago, he had several made up. I guess any graphics company could do it.

Not needed. It's fine as it is. The front and rear are very well matched IMO. ๐Ÿ˜€

The only thing I've changed is the grips to lock-ons (Which I already had) and I'll probably fit a bash ring and a 36t ring. The bars are a tad narrow, but I don't notice it whan riding. Even the saddle and seatpost are pretty good....

Yeah I could throw money at it, but it won't make much difference and it's defeating the object really. It's a budget bike...... ๐Ÿ™‚

This has made me really want one. Like matt I see it as an alternative to my 06 Enduro but a bit lighter and with an air shock. I cant help myself but want one.

Anybody fancy a swap?(frame only)

I have to agree about the forks; they're perfect! Though I WANT 36TALAS's... no I don't!

Swap... I'd rather spoon my eyes out!

We need to start a B(P)itch appreciation society!

Tyres are fine in the dry - rubbish in the wet - though I shouldn't keep saying this as I want to sell mine! Get some 2.35 maxxis high rollers on there - perfect.

Tyres - I reckon the standard ones are fine, TBH. Bit draggy maybe but they seem tough and grippy, unlike previous Spesh tyres I've had. I've got some 2.35 Kendas I might try, but I'm going to try ghetto tubeless I think....

All my Pitch pics are here.

Tyres; I didn't bother changing them, pretty good for everything; nice soft compound edge tread.

are you running spds or flats on your pitch's?

Slim Jim Flats, the riding you can do on this you don't want to be attached (unless you do)

Handles great but even better with some low rise wider bars and 60mm stem.
Had mine since last spring and can't praise it enough, it is built for speed more than climbs but climbs ok if you got the legs.

XTR SPDs on mine but thinking about some kind of flat/spd combo possibly for the mega.

545 SPDs all the way. They'd do for the Mega too, though I used really old DX SPDs on my Mega trips.

PS the Pitch is perfect for the more local of the Avalanche Cup races, the Avalanche Enduro- this year there are two, Ae and Keilder this year, great fun.

Here is that Drop at Mabie again

Yeah, they're 160-130-100

To be frank they will probably spend most of the time at 130 then get cranked up for mean stuff, especially when we move to Spain.

This is the relative crown heights at 160 (Fox) and 140 (Pike)

They (apparantly) weigh the same as our Pikes, but I'll confirm that. The downside is the price ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Hells bells.
Chopper-tastic!

๐Ÿ˜‰

Still, the frame's designed for that length fork, and I'll bet you'll ride pretty much anything with those bad boys up front!

... and I will, when the whole 'moving to Spain' comes to fruition.

I'll post some pics when the forks are on (psyching myself up to put the star nut in)

- SLX Crankset, XT Cassette & KMC X9.93 Chain
- Outland CNC'd pedals (Slim Jims by any other name)
- Sunline V1 AM Stem
- Sunline V2 Bars + Outland Lock-ons
- Crank Bros Jolin with Charge Spoon
- On the way a FOX DHX 5.0 Air
- Hope seat clamp & Head set.

forge - bloody love it, total overkill for my night time rides back home but once you get it into areas like above (it's the altura trail btw) and wales trail centres / more natural stuff or if you wanna prat around on a 4x course it's brilliant.

It's superb on the downs and the more confidence you get the faster it becomes as I found out when I shot past my mates when we did nant-y-arain on teh rocky down hill bits, two of them were on Ramsons and a couple on Meta 5.5's

To be honest it's not mega light but it's 31lbs so not exactly heavy.

Cant' wait ot ride it again at the weekend with the new shock fitted.

And hopefully off to the Mega next summer
