Planning on getting a train from Hudds to Hebden then riding home on Pennine Bridleway, over moor to Marsden then back along canal home. I know the descent into Marsden and the canal well but not the Pennine bridleway. Easy to follow? Terrain?
Been riding peaks for 20yrs so I can ride pretty much anything but didn't want anything too epic as been off bike for a while. 🙁

I got the train from Hudds to Greenfield. From there we followed the well sign-posted Trans-Pennine bridleway to Hebden Bridge, about 27 miles but took a long time. We then got the train from Hebden Bridge to Brighouse and another train back to Hudds (£3 all day parking at Hudds station on a weekend).

At least on the stretch we did there was some decent downhill bits, tough climbs and hardly any tarmac. It was like a watered down version of Jacob's Ladder loop from Edale!

That's interesting - although 27 miles may be a bit far for first ride back.

If/when you do go robdob i'd love to hear all about it.

Live in Mirfield and was tempted by something like this. We keep doing the same old trails round our way. Throw in a train and you've got yourself an adventure!

Is it nice out? I'm still in bed but might go do a loop of Cragg Vale.

that ride is a piece of cake.
road climb up to horsehold, on to London road, round to below studley.
up slabs and right at top onto warland drain, follow this to the road at the white house pub.
across road onto pennine way and across blackstone edge, over m/way to windy hill.
follow pennine way to buckstones road, then down packhorse to marsden.

even in my state of health this would be possible.

MTFU........ 😆

Well I would do it but I can't find anything I need to get out on my bike, spent an hour searching for stuff so I've missed the train. So now I HAVE to find my lights but they've disappeared as well.
Getting increasingly mad. 👿

Well I ended up not doing it last weekend, got in a grump and sacked it off. Still can't find my fancy Exposure lights.

Anyway, all planned in again tomorrow, be more organised this time! Ride to Brighouse, train to Hebden then ride home.

Thought it was 20 miles, it's actually 27!!

So if you see a tubby bloke on a brown Specialized Pitch Pro with gold bits on it say hi to me. I'll need the support!
