Me and Mrs.Stanley will come and play too. Will probably ride from Marple if anybody wants to join us.

Been on the bike once in the last month, so it will be good to get out!

At the moment pivot bearings are shot but when it works it's good, bit of pedal bob but very stable downhill. Nice with beefy forks.

Sam, you'd be more than welcome to join the pushing brethren at the back. I'll be carrying a small bakery of cake and I'll still be getting used to the backwards shifting of the Alfine so I'll not be particularly quick.

Hooray, I have a pass, and the roads are unlikely to be snowbound this time, so I shall be able to make it to this one!

Don't worry spacehopper - I've only been on one before, but everyone was very friendly indeed, you'll have a grand time I'm sure.

Sam, I pushed up a hill as fast as Chris rode up it. pushing is the future.

Tom, bought it but its not here yet. should have it fitted for the weekend but I'm at another wedding so can't come out riding.

I've not ridden with you guys before; I'm quite new to this forum malarkey and would love to join you ... what should I do, turn up and look purposeful? ๐Ÿ˜•

Turn up and faff with bikes for half an hour, preferably with cake. Forgetting something vital eg helmet or SPD shoes is recommended just so you fit in perfectly. Maybe have some pink bits on your bike.

Looks like I'm made to fit in... I can faff for England and a half hours worth of pointless bike fettling comes easy to me. As for forgetting stuff, I have medals!!!

Can't make this one as we will be driving back from Aviemore - where I may just manage to get some riding in, oh yes.

I once turned up with 2 right-handed gloves.

i'll probably bring some kind of cake. it'll be egg/dairy free though! and maybe some veggie haribo too. ha!

nbt can confirm that i'm quite (well, very!) slow, especially on the uphill bits...

My cat is really slow too, that's mostly why I asked. I wouldn't want it to hold anyone up, though it's very fast on more technical terrain thanks to feline reflexes and an excellent sense of balance.

You might be able to borrow an angry bike if you want Jamie.

Angry bike?

...might be academic though, as it's the saturday I think I would be free.

Your cat will fit nicely in the shopping basket that is fitted to the front of my Juliana.

We forgot pedals once, however that was in Welsh Wales and not on a Pooks Peak/s pootle.

No way is my cat riding in some poncey full susser. I'll do you a deal, get yourself a Tiglet ordered and the cat will bring you a nice can of tasty Whiskas.

Oh, can I just say - since it seems to be de rigeur on this thread - that I'm really, really slow. NBT will sign an affadavit to that effect, and I'll be hobbling along at the rear pushing my bike on anything which isn't horizontal tarmac... ๐Ÿ˜‰

[Edit: nice moggy, those bars are on the wide side though. Have a look for some of the new feline-specific stuff that's coming out]

I'm going to ensure that anyone who claims to be slow actually is slow by either removing bits from bikes, or breaking limbs.

The point isn't how slow you are - the point is that if you want go go fast, you'll either have to wait for the slower riders, or bugger off and do your own antisocial thing. This is a social ride for social riders. We'll even accept calderdale types, if they can bear to leave The Valley

Aren't they confined there by a powerful magnetic forcefield that acts on their niche, long-travel steel-framed, hardtails with 2.5mm Super Tacky Swampthings front and rear?

I heard rumours that one or two escaped by accidentally building Mmmmplops or worrever they're called, but were dragged back by fear at not being surrounded on all five sides by serried banks of stone steps... The Steps of Death, The Steps of Nausea, the Steps of Psychosis, the Steps of Niche, the Steps of Steps, that sort of thing?

I heard tell that many of them are now incapable or riding up or down a uniform slope. Just saying ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lol @ Jamie - that is indded BWD's cat, it's the same (rather bloated size) colour and spec.

Tiglet, can't seem to find a small one to test ride.

We may not have the 'steps of death', however, we do have the 'field of doom', leading to the roots of hell.

Roots of Doom?

You weren't overbiked on your Sovereign. I think it's a sunday for a reason as some people couldn't attend any of the saturday pootles due to work/family commitments.
