Hi
I dont know the Peak that well but am planning a trip soon.
What Id like is to hear about (or see!) are the best views available to a mountain biker.
The hill behind the Ladybower Inn springs to mind but the others always seem to me at least to be available to users of footpaths not bridleways
What Im thinking of is the view west from Kinder Scout - its really beautiful but only on a footpath
I dont want blood curdling downhills - just ideas for the most scenic ride
Cheers
(This aruably makes me a weirdo)
i always like the view of edale from the track that carries on from the roman road (potato alley?)
View down Cavedale over Castleton with castle in the foreground
Top of Stanage Pole down the Hope Valley.
Wow fast work team ๐
That Ladybower pic is the one I mean
Keep 'em coming

Oh crappy linky thing. Imagine Cuckoo's 1st photo but with some snow on it ๐
I love the view across to Edale and Kinder from Hollins Cross. It was the first trail we rode after the trails reopened after foot and mouth and I'll never forget just how privileged it felt to be standing there again gawping at this beautiful sweeping view of the Kinder Plateau after being deprived of it for weeks.
Also the sun setting from the shooting cabin end of Middle Moor and, if you sneak around the corner there, the view of Kinder Downfall across the Reservoir is lovely.
One of my favorite views is looking back down the now defunct road that leads to Castleton.
I quite like the view from Black lane above Mellor cross looking out toward Kinder.
Or from the same spot the views are quite good over towards Manchester and the Cheshire plains.
๐although sadly not such nice weather as the other [s]two[/s] three.

Hmmmm... looking at these pics makes me wonder why I've only ridden in the peaks about 4 or 5 times despite only living 40 mins away from Hayfield.
Must try harder.
Didmatt's pic showing the dry, dusty trail...................... seems like an age ago.
Lowey, that was taken back in April, seems so long ago! I really need to get out more in the peaks also.
ruminant - someone's nicked your pint, right our of your hand!!
No pics my but my fave is from top of rushup edge looking down to edale, with a few dozen paragliders circling mam tor.
Tracy, your pick of a pint of Farmers Blonde is the best ๐ My Fave brewery.

Andy - some cracking shots there. love the snowy decent down the farm near ladybower!
Probably Whinstone Lee Tor. Stunning view.
I like this one though, just because its such a nice spot to sit and admire it.
