No there is a whole lot of flowers and rememberances on a fence near the roadside where a cyclist was killed, similar to what you see next to roads where fatal accidents have happened.
Thats suggesting they might not prosecute some people - its still illegal.

How many pedestrians are killed or seriously injured by bikes on pavements each year? How does this compare to the number of cyclists killed or seriously injured on the roads by vehicles?
Then tell me that riding on pavements is a danger to pedestrians and we should all be on the roads at all times.

That's not real risk - that's anecdote. You could live on the safest street in the country, there could be only 1 cyclist killed on the roads every year, yet some drunken driver might have randomly managed to kill that cyclist on your street.
RLJ if you want to, especially if it's safer; and ride on the pavement if it's convenient

People, whatever form of transport they're using, do this all the time. On my walk to work this morning, I saw cars nipping down the last bit of bus lane to bypass a queue; a van parked half on the road and half on the pavement over double yellow lines and in a bus lane; and numerous cars nipping through lights on amber (the new "still green") or "only just red" (the new amber). I also saw some cyclists on the pavement.

I cycle on the pavement depending on which route i go, after buses lorry's and cars all trying to kill me because they couldn't wait until i had passed the section of road with a bollard in the middle i decided eff this, the last straw was when a car hit my handle bars, all at the same bit of road.
At the end of the day who gives a monkeys.

There's a short stretch of footpath I use for the simple reason that it's almost always deserted. In almost a decade of using it I've encountered less than fifty people in total, only two of which were in the mood for a confrontation regardless of space available. I've used the road alongside at various times but not in the rush hour. I personally think that I'm doing the motorist and myself a big favour by doing so; allowing them to move unimpeded along which is usually a very busy and fast-moving couple of miles.
I always yield to pedestrians and correct them when they thank me by reminding them it's their right of way.

Baiscally I agree with you here, and I've done the same but we are just glossing over the issues. Recently I've realised what really need to happen is proper pedestrian + cycling facilities need to be built.
I can forgive old road but we do need to improve these. But we are still building roads + pavements with barely enough room for the users.
We should have roads wide enough for 2 cars (Normally Check).
Then a space
Room for 2 cyclists
Then a space
Room for 3 pedestrians
And this should be made compulsory for every new stretch of road built.
