I fancy a jolly on the gravel in the Purbeck Heaths and was thinking of parking at Sandbanks area, catching the chain ferry and setting off from the other side. But parking around Sandbanks id crazy £17.70 for 6 hours! So does anyone have any other ideas for parking into area, doesn't have to be free but reasonable would be fair. thanks

The roads set back from the shoreline are free, park here and go down the alleyway to the shoreline.

Plenty of options slightly off the beaten track. My old man lives on Flaghead Road and I think that’s still free.

Yes the locals have it anywhere off the sea front. Extra marks if it's outside my grumpy MILs house! If you are there outwith the cycling ban on the prom you're best to park here https://maps.app.goo.gl/UHxbGb2yzDw5YBSA9 and cycle along the promenade.

Christ I used to mountain bike all around the Purbeck hills in the mid 80s. Park up for free next to the ferry or all along the harbour , jump on the boat and over you went. Never seemed to be short of spaces or even busy

As per nealc I always park in cliff drive, drop down the chine and along the prom (often along the beach as I mostly ride fatbikes)
