Id much rather not have the soggy nappy experience of padded shorts.....i stay comfortable enough without padded shorts on most of my riding where I switch a lot between seated and standing, it's those extended stints in the saddle on big uphill, get some numbness with a variety of saddles in my bum cheek muscles.

Have got to try more saddles or just settle with padded shorts?

i stay comfortable enough

You said it! I doubt if padded shorts would help with sore bum cheek muscles anyway,

Womens specific saddle? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I would not say they are necessary but they sure help me. I have only had that nappy feeling once with Endura undershorts Fox and Mavic are both easily forgotten comfort wise for me. Maybe try a different better fitting brand if they feel a bit nappy like.

Soggy nappy? got recent experience of that ๐Ÿ˜‰
As in previous threads, just use decent bibs, works really well and comfortable

it's not the padding that i use them for, it's the lack of chafey seams.

Riding with a too big pad makes me more uncomfortable, as it bunches up and creates pressure where there shouldn't be any

I've always found Altura liners to be the most comfortable v Fox or Endura ..but I wouldn't know which type I have had ( they have always come with the baggies that I have bought)..

I wear them for longer calorie burning rides as they do help, but i don't find them nessesary for a 2 or so hours ride.

Just depends really.

Huge help for me, bar when I use the bike for a trip to the shops, I wear them for every ride. For both padding and also lack of chafing.

soggy nappy experience of padded shorts

spend more than 20 quid. get proper lycra (not cotton) and you'll be fine.

I've got a variety of real good undershorts and bibs, Gore, altura, endura, all equally as noticeable as one another for me personally.

I cut the annoying padding out of a pair of shorts years ago and have never gone back - I rarely ride over 2 hrs though

I've not used padded bike shorts for a while now. Got the right saddle shape for me and can ride as much as I want to w/o discomfort in good baggies and the right boxers. Prob just a case of trying a few more saddle shapes.
