Hey,

I'm looking for a packable windproof to store in my bum bag for when I'm MTBing.

It needs to be bright coloured because I think it is silly to cycle in anything that doesn't make you more visible to motorists (why do so many cyclists wear black?).

I was thinking maybe a Paramo Ostro?

Cheers,

Mick

I have a Endura Men's Pakajak II Windproof and also a Montane jacket, both very small and light.

I got one of these recently

https://galibier.cc/product/tempest/

The orange is full Tango orange, and it packs down small.  Snug fit too, so size up if you want to add extra layers under it.

I've a Haglofs windshirt, I think it's aimed at runners but it's fine for biking. Has a very thin layer of insulation on the front. Good enough that my wife went "I want one!" so she got one. Not sure if they still make them but worth looking out for.

In fact looking at running kit is worthwhile as there's some very lightweight stuff around.

Montane Featherlight smock. 100g
Should be able to find for less than 60 quid.
I carry one in my bum bag all year round.

In fact depending on size go outdoors have the green one for 42.50 I'm normally a medium but small fits better in the windproof although my ostro fleece is a medium as small was too small

Arc'teryx Incendo Hoody or just the Incendo Jacket, is a trail running windproof but works well on the bike too. Has mesh underarm and part side panels to up breathability. Expensive - though only a fiver more than the Paramo Ostro - but good and available in bright orange.

It was that bargain at Go Outdoors that made me favor the Paramo.

Unfortunately they don't have medium.

The Arc’teryx one looks good but prices.

Bought one of these for £20 https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F323868913553
Works well as a windjacket and has a tiny bit of dwr proofing.
Otherwise Buffalo wind shirts are superb and very tough. Not as lightweight though.

Until my one unknowingly jumped out of the bottle cage on the way to work last winter, my Pakajak fitted the bill.

I'd order a small geomick and send it back if it doesn't fit.like I say I'm medium in everything even their ostro fleece but I'm a small in the ostro windproof even with the fleece underneath, worst case take it back to local go outdoors for a refund

+ 1 for the Montane Featherlite. Use if for both cycling and running; very seldom leave home without it!

+1 for the Endura Pakajak, all of our family have one, fit easily into a jersey pocket if the weather doesn't look great or might turn cold

I bought a wee packable jacket out Tresspass and it’s been great for the windy days and odd rainy but not howling wet days
Only £15

I ride in the Paramo ostro and can confirm it does the job well. Packs up so small I sometimes forget I’ve got it in my back pocket
