Hi all
After another week of near misses i am looking to increase my visibility and winter comfort with a commuting jacket.
have narrowed choice down to
Altura night vision windproof newer or older version
Endura air defence softshell
endura lumilite
Altura Night vision evo
Right the reason i am after advice is i'm after the following and dont want to spend out and find i've wasted the money (like my react jacket)
I'm after maximum reflectivity or at least some useable reflective visible from the side and front whilst wearing a camelbak
I'm after windproof as i boil up in waterproofs, i'm also looking to use it with 1 maybe 2 base layers right through winter (sunny south)so would prefer thicker than thinner.
So anyone got any experience of the above jackets?
a photo showing night reflectivity would be great, tried googling and ended up with some fairly obscure pictures.
Cheers
Perhaps you could subscribe to Aldi and Lidl newsletters. They do cycling gear at ridiculously cheap prices. I just got a hi viz waterproof/windproof jacket with reflective strips from Aldi, it was around £20 (not gonna get up to check because I've just manoeuvred myself into position with my leg up and ice packs on). Anyway, at that price you can afford to try and see if you like. Hear what you say about waterproofs btw.
wasn't it a few weeks back the Aldi offer? i figured they'd have sold out by now due to the popularity
I have the air defence and for your needs it does not have enough reflective areas. I also only wear it when it's really cold ie below 3 or 4 degrees as it's so warm. Fantastic jacket even in the rain but as I say at the correct time of year.
Yes, it was a few weeks ago but they repeat their offers, so it's worth subscribing to the enewsletter.

Air defence looked like it ticked all the boxes except the visibility, and i've got gear for off road, but it doesn't lend itself so well to onroad dippy driver visibility.
hmmmpf
Just by a site hivi and some reflective arm and ankle straps.
thanks for the hi vis suggestions, however ideally i'm looking for one item to do it. I could add the high vis to what i'm wearing but it's one more thing to wrap around me so i'd prefer to have a 'dedicated' comuting jacket.
Also when the ice comes again and i take another slide, i'd prefer it to be in my commute jacket rather than the better kit i use off road.
