[Closed] OT: TV experts, few channels - no aerial but have a Sat Dish on new house

So moved into new house, plugged tv into wall with normal co-axel aerial and the tv (2 years old) automatically set itself up and went through tuning the channels. It only found 7 and they were really odd ones.

Previous owners obviously had sat tv as the satalite dish is up there and there is no aerial on the roof or in the attic.

So my question is, is there a way I can get normal free view through the satelite dish with out having to pay monthly sky subscriptions?

what options do I have?

Many thanks

Dave

As said - freesat. You can get a freesat HD box for just over £100 now, and get the BBC and ITV high-def channels free.

The channels you get are listed here: http://www.freesat.co.uk/index.php?page=whatson.Main&PHPSESSID=u8irb58fdeu1bkpjqftnp45as4

Here you go
just throw the dish away if you don't need it

Be aware that the boxes put out a current [12-18V]
To avoid popping a fuse or resistor, Make sure that you don't have a short on the connector & that you do not power the box up before you connect the dish feed

So you either have Freesat / Freesat HD for which you need to buy a box or Free to Air on Sky which requires and old SKy box and you then need to ask sky for your free card.
