Does anyone know if it's possible and, if so, how to upload ordnance survey open space maps (which are in .tif format)so that they can be used in garmin mapsource and uploaded to be used in garmin gps please ?
I've managed to upload the scottish mountaineering contours maps OK but wondered about the os maps.
Thanks
I assume you mean OS OpenData maps? Its a rather different thing to OS Openspace.
Firstly, TIFF is a raster/bitmap image format. You can only load raster images on a few of the latest Garmin handhelds (eg Dakota, Oregon etc). And AFAIK there's no way to use them in MapSource. See http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/us/onthetrail/custommaps
Most normal Garmin maps are in a vector format. Some of the OS Opendata maps are available in vector formats (eg shapefiles). So you could convert these into Garmin maps, though it might be rather complicated. eg instructions for converting the OS Opendata contours: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OS_OpenData_Contours_on_Garmin
It would be easier to just use OpenStreetMap based maps, which are already available in Garmin format. And there is work going on for adding some of the OS Opendata map data to OpenStreetMap (though not bulk imports, as they are not considered to be helpful).
