I've been waiting for Specialized UK to get stock of chainstay units for an '06 enduro since December (chainstay cracked in the usual place for an enduro). I've just been told that they will be another two months at least, and this is taking the piss. I'm without a bike now as my backup hardtail has also packed up.
It's a 2nd hand frame so no warrantee, so I can't get to arsy with spesh as its just ordering parts rather than a warrantee replacement.
I'm not waiting another two months, so I want to try and order a chainstay unit from a US bike shop and get it shipped over.
The RRP here is about £100, is it likely that the US price will be the same in $, i.e. $100 ? so I may get it bought and shipped for about the same as RRP in the UK? (as the exchange rate is still better than $1 to £1 I think?)
Has anyone got any experience of ordering warrantee / replacement parts from the US, i.e. can I avoid import tax/duty by ordering it as a replacement rather than just a purchase.
