Anybody ridden both? Am thinking of one or other to up the travel from my Segment (which I love, just a bit tiring after a day in the mountains).

Is there much weight difference between the two RS models? Does the 5 climb substantially better than the 6? Most of my riding is alpine since I live here, not afraid of of a 1000m hike a bike or pedal but equally have more than my fair share of lift days.

Would likely get the Fox X2 rear shock upgrade on either and try to tune out any potential wallowyness.

I had a demo on them both, towards the end of last year, I liked riding them both, however the demo ride wasn't really testing enough for Either of them so I didn't really notice a difference between them going uphill or downhill. On that basis id go for the 6.

Although this doesn't really help much?

iย  know someone who's had both. 5 is the all rounder. The 6 is meant for going down steep stuff so struggles back up.

Had a quick go on the stage 6, with the dpx shock.

It climbs really well, much better than my mega 290 and feels lighter with a similar build

Did quite a rough descent and it was very composed and fluid. I was really impressed.

It has quite a sporty feel for a long travel 29ee, if you live in the Alps it would be a great choice IMO.

I've had the older alpine 5 29er and recently got a stage 6

I did my pre purchase testing an Antur stiniog been fortunate enough to have mates who have both .

Whilst DH testing was only covered here I Always choose my bikes on there DH capabilities as no bike climbs very badly imo just some not as good as others .

The stage 6 was just damm right ridiculous.fast on another scale

I also hired a nukeproof mega 290 which was a weapon too and I could of bought the entire mega for just the stage frame price but I was the 3rd person to ever take the mega 2018 version out they said it was 2 weeks old and this thing was falling apart .the pain knackered so I gave that a swerve .

The stage 6 just feels like you could add it to the list of thing to survive a nuclear fallout .

I then demoed tbe stage 6 from a shop on my local trails a no matter what the shops shock wiz wanted me to adjust the X2 was just a disappointment in the afternoon we then fitted dpx2 instead and went and ride the same trails and wow what a difference.

Ridden a 5 in the Alps on 3 trips. Great going up and down for me.
