I'm 5'8". Would a 17" frame be the size to plump for?

5' 9" and had a 17" fit for me was good 70mm stem layback post, inline post would have been a bit better, move my weight further forward.

I found mine a little big tbh, started at 100mm travel the bike was fine, cranked the forks up to 125mm and the bike feels a little big, 140mm bike too big, wish i had gone for a smaller one.

Mines a 17", saving some funds for a smaller cotic soul, then possibly will sell the P7 frame. Or keep hold of it until the summer and get a new full bouncer to replace the trek i sold 12 months ago.

Im 5 11" and had a 17" with a 70 mm stem. Ideally wanted to run a 50mm stem.

I'd say 17" would be fine for you with a short stem. Maybe a 15" if you want to really throw it around and don't mind a lot of post showing for xc duties.

Have a soul now though for HT duties, feels as good on the descents but more sprightly on the ups (my P7 was a 2009 which IMO was best year as pre CEN but with decent dropouts - anything post 2010 feels harsh and not as 'steel like')

As with oxnop, I'm 5' 11" and ride a 17" 2009. It's perfect and feels nicely chuckable (whatever that means). I'd also agree that you should maybe try a 15".

I had a 19" Evo6 too, and the smaller P7 is a million times nicer to ride as I think it's better to get over the front of the bike with the slack angles.
