It all started to go wrong early on when my main light blinked out. This was user error, I had used the wrong battery. I had a backup set of Ay Ups on my helmet so I was ok and kept on going.
A few miles later, my front tyre went down. Luckily we were close to my mate's house so we grabbed a track pump and carried on pumping 'til the gloop in the tyre started to work.
Maybe 10 miles later, the back tyre went down. I had a 100ml bottle of gloop in my pocket so used that and got back on the road.
Maybe five miles later, we were riding through a cut between some houses on the way home and as I put pressure down coming out of the corner my brand new chain ring snapped in two. No warning...and all the chain ring bolts sheared, scattering all over the path/road.
I called for motorised recovery and my mate carried on riding so he'd get home before it got even colder. While waiting, I noticed that the tabs on my cranks were FUBARed.
At least my frame wasn't damaged!
I should have stayed at home!
Oh mate what a nightmare ride. We've all had rides like that, one thing after another. Mental how your chain ring snapped in two, never seen or heard of that before.
