[Closed] One more XTR question... trail or race pedals?

I've decided on the brakes, now pedals - has anybody tried them? I am wary of how much extra support that big alu cage can give to stiff carbon soled pedals, and I'll probably always wear my stiff XC shoes...

Is there only a noticeable benefit from the trail pedals if you are using trail style shoes? I've not noticed any lack of support using m520s to be honest!

I had the same choice and went for the race, but then again I hardly ever clip out. I don't notice any lack of support.

xtr trails benefit on release and re-engagement on tech sections. a good platform if you can't quite get back in.

i love them.

I have xtr trail on one bike and XT race on the other, no difference in support yet the xtr pedals are heavier and nearly double the cost. Slightly easier to clip in if that really makes a difference.

Interesting to hear that there is no real difference in support - I don't clip out so i think it'll be the race style

XTR race set pretty slack so you can get the feet out easily but they have never released accidentally. They're very good.

XTR Race is way to go, I think. It is worth noting that they aren't great in the mud - once they clog it is nearly impossible to clip in.
