or the gents who have ladies that ride.

Mrs Eyes looking for some biking trousers.

She's just bought some endura fireflys, but they're more like track suit bottoms with a velcro bit around the ankle doesn't do much.

So can anyone recommend some trousers that are a good fit.

I know a lot depends on body shape, but a tapered leg, more bike specific cut or better adjusters to take in the slack etc would be good.

Links will be great and will get me bonus points 😀

Minx Girl, for e.g. do ladies cycle wear - but not trousers. Reason? 'cos they're impractical . Much better to go for long baggies and tights beneath - maybe 3/4. Baggies can be worn without tights when warmer.

Yep, got to agree with boxelder. 95% of the time I wear baggies over 3/4 length tights. If the missus is worried, tell her 3/4 tights can be very flattering. 8)

Are we talking for Spring/Summer wear here? If not then the Ground Effect men's trousers are good but more suited to Autumn/Winter conditions.

Otherwise, as said above, 3/4 length/capris whatever you want to call them. I would suggest that a minimalist style is more flattering ie stay away from loads of pockets all over the place. Fabric with a slight stretch is comfy, have also found that the Sombrio baggies with a side waistband zip are particularly comfy.

My wife has Gore Terra 3/4s. Think fitted 3/4 length baggies, if that isn't a contradiction.

No one's mentioned Corinne Dennis clothes.

Also dhb on Wiggle have a good selection of women's kit. Their model is pretty tasty too.

Thanks for the replies, Mrs Eyes doing a bit of looking today.

CG - She's just getting into riding so it's just a case of buying some basics, then if she enjoys it she can get some more seasonal stuff. But I'm not sure if she'll ever go for a ride in the depths of winter. But saying that you never know.

In the summer I like wearing a nice Patagonia frock over my padded shorts. I don't like stuff which is restricting round the waist and baggies tend to slip down onto my hips and that's really annoying. Little dress hides lycra shorts from the world and is much more discreet for weeing in the woods. 🙂

In winter I have a pair of Pearl Izumi winter tights, nice thick, water resistant but warm when damp.

Yup trousers arent' really for MTBing, I guess if she really wants to just some hiking trousers, but as already recommended 3/4's are the way forward, baggies if she isn't quite ready to take the jump into full on lycra, but black 3/4 lycra is very flattering on woman. I have some old old old Castelli 3/4 with built in liner which are fab and recently got some Gore ones from Minx Girl when she had a 50% off day.

Minx girl is free delivery this weekend. Expensive stuff but normally worth every penny (stuff that I've bought so far has been).

ASsos crazy expensive, especially if just starting out.

Good luck.

I'd also say no to trousers. I wouldn't subject the world to a view of my bum in lycra, so always wear a cycling skirt over tights, 3/4s or shorts.

The girls I ride with (including myself) all wear lycra longs in winter, usually thermal, lycra 3/4 s in the spring, autumn and on the one hot day we get each year baggy shorts.

If she's just getting into the sport then may I suggest 'decathlon' for cycling gear.

Good Shout about Decathlon, I forgot they existed.

I left her looking at the Minx Girl and Corinne Dennis this morning, so she have bought something.

MC: I'm with you on buying quality kit. I've had a Gore windstopper mid layer since 2004. It's seen a lot miles, it's quite worn but shows no sign of giving up yet.

Again, thanks all for your posts.
