One for Jersey riders: when did CRC/Wiggle start charging VAT?

I think there's a few beans on here... one of the advantages of ordering things to Jersey has always been removing VAT, however it's been a while since I've ordered from Chain Reaction/Wiggle and the cheeky buggers are now charging a premium equivalent to UK VAT for all orders despatched to Jersey/Guernsey/IoM to "take into account the costs of doing business across all of the markets we operate in".

Is this a new thing that came in with the disastrous new website? I assume I'll still pay Jersey GST if over the de minimis?

Delivering to or billing to?

Delivering to anywhere outside the UK may be VATable subject to indirect export rules

it's delivering to Jersey, not just billing there and sending to UK. In that instance it's an export so non-VATable. CRC make it clear they are not charging VAT, just an amount equivalent to VAT. None of this money goes anywhere near the Exchequer.

Yep - had a big argument with them. Official response was along the lines of we do deduct VAT, but the price you pay doesn’t change to take into consideration the cost of doing buisness with Jersey… not used them since.

found the official response I had:

"take into account the costs of doing business across all of the markets we operate in, and price our products based on a variety of commercial factors."...
