...with some mates who don't ride bikes much.

Need bike hire, and a nice all day route - minimal uphill, don't mind a couple of lifts.

It will form part of a long weekend away, so a nice restaurant in the evening and somewhere near a town with a bit of life would be good.

Anybody got any recommendations?

Timing is likely to be second weekend in July.

Les Gets, Morzine. All you need in that area.

+1 for morzine. You can do a nice big loop on pretty easy tracks with up lift. Loads of mountain restaurants for lunch. A few nice places in town for food and drink at the end of the day. Lots of bike hire too. Works well with a mixed group as you can stop for coffee and the keen riders can do a quick extra run or two

May as well set up a Singletrack bot that replies to every "Alps" post with "Morzine" 😉

Sauze D’Oulx in Italy has some nice mellower stuff.

^^^^. Fine by me, keeps the Brit stormtroopers contained in PdS.

Riva del Garda?

Fun town that's great for beers and pizza, plenty of bike hire places including e-bikes. Plenty of published trail routes and probably more accessible to non-riders than some bike park style resorts.

Lots of non-bike stuff too. Could be a good option for a mixed ability group?

Are you already in thevAlps, or do you want suggestions for a whole weekend destination?

Thanks all - Morzine does look like a good shout for a weekend - short transfer from Geneva too.

Will have a look at the other option, ta.
