I've got one. Can't call myself a racer though. I can get up hills quicker than I should on it though. Although, that's still usually last.

Yep.
It's my first hardtail, bought for enduros and the like. Have to say it is really growing on me.
Paulsoxo is right, I go up hills in the middle ring where I used to be in the granny on my full sus.
