Currently have a steel 456, so I'm happy with geometry etc, just looking at opportunity to shed a bit of weight & see that both offer a springier ride than the steel.
Question is which to go for? Anyone ridden both?
I rode the original Ti one for an hour or so and own a carbon (and have owned a steel).
I'd say the Ti one had far more 'twang' than the carbon - it feels very different (not sure if geometry is now shared across the 3 types of frame now).
Maybe put up where you live and get a test ride on one/both?
I've a 16" Lynskey made 456TI for sale if you decide to go Ti... 😉
16 is too small I'm afraid - I have an 18" steel.
Twang as in smooth over the ground or flex/twist in frame through corners. Want stiffness for cornering, but smooth over the ground.
I'd say the carbon is stiffer on corners/tech stuff - the Ti one did the 'twang' thing everywhere. It's not a bad thing and doesn't necessarily slow you down, it's just noticeable as you put power down that there's a little 'winding up' before you shoot forward.
I really would get a ride if you can - it's a big decision.
They have just knocked £100 off the Ti and thrown in a free Hope headset. I would like to try a Ti one to know if I made the right choice. The carbon one is a bit harsh at low speed (well it is a hard tail) but really smooth at high speed and no twist cornering or under power.
ikimbunza - where are you? I ride a 16".
I've had both, the lynskey original and now the carbon one. I'd say there isn't a huge amount of difference other than price.

Had seen that On One had discounted the Van Nic versions so i hope i've priced my Lynskey one ok (advert in classifieds) but i'm open to offers.
They are lovely frames. I'd be keeping mine if funds allowed 🙁

I'd seen the Ti frame offer online last night, which only further muddied the waters.
Interesting to note ti456neal comments. Carbon weight is appealling, but even the ti will shed a couple of pounds, although frame for winter use mostly, so having added lots of Cotswold clay, it won't make too much difference.

I've had steel and carbon 456s. The carbon is noticeably nippier and does seem to soak up some of the bumps (although I can't help feeling some of this is psychological and down to the different sound of a carbon frame). Pics of the carbon one nearly put me off but it looks a whole lot better in the flesh. I actually quite like the look of mine
I probably keep saying this, but IME the carbon 456 needs a carbon seatpost to give it a nice comfy ride.
Mine was noticeably more harsh when I stuck my Thomson post in for a ride.
I'd like to try the ti456 to compare, but my c456 is definitely a "keeper".
Ahhh...I don't have a good record with carbon seatposts!
