just found a pic of this old tank on my computer:-

[img] [/img]

all the components were taken off my old Dirtworks Monster downhill rig and thrown on a Planet X 4x frame along with a pair of slick tyres.

it was stable as you like down the hills, but riding back up again was a bit of a fag... i soon figured it was just easier to drive to work!

I would give you a 6 for style
but a 2 for practicality

Definite high marks for 'unique' factor and style, very good, say 9/10? If it was a 69'er or running an alfine hub or something then I'd go to 10/10 😆

5/10 for practicality though... bet it would've been fun to bomb down stairs on etc! 8)

Any excuse to post a pic of my old frankenbike (looks kind of similar to yours in some ways!)

i think i got £550 for it a fair few years back... had i known about this forum, i could have stripped it down and flogged all the parts as they were all top-end bits & bobs.

Bonus points for using a 4X frame for anything but (4x).

Reminds me of little 4X frame I used as an 'XC' bike for ages, including racing on (XC races, not 4X). 'Tis retired now tho' - it was just that *bit* too much like hard work used for anything other than going down / through things.

That's a Duncon Pitbull 4x frame. I'm now thinking about rebuilding it as a SS urban-assault bike of some sort.

😛
