Hi all, I have the Hone chainset M601 with bash and fancy losing a bit of weight by going to the new XT chainset. thing is I definitely dont need the outer ring and as the Hone bashring is relatively lightweight compared to the E13 solid affairs i wonder if it'll fit on the new XT chainset? bcd i think is the same but what about arm clearance? anyone had a go?

If your using a Hone Crankset and bashring I imagine your probably riding some harder terrain than jsut your standard xc type stuff, maybe its worth keeping the hones for extra durability. Ive heard too many stories about pedal threads getting ripped out of xt cranksets.

You could probably save more weight by changing something else on your bike, I imagine the xt's would only save 100g - 150g?

hi good point, the threads are getting bad on the previous model LX on my SS (not the bike in question here) but ive not had the issue on the other bikes. Its clearance over logs and rocks which i need, but im not often getting much air. but ta i'd totally forgotten about that issue.

Would make this change and lose about the same going to an ec70 xc bar as well, then try best to rip off the rear mech leading to a fancier one, by then perhaps my annoyingly resilient Juicys might have packed in, all adds up though ๐Ÿ™‚
