Hi All,
kinda new to the road brake world....so....
I have the older style campag Veloces where to replace the pad i need a full block with bolts etc (see pic)

but im going to carbon rims,
i cannot find anywhere that stock the above blocks but for carbon
would it be easier to get some kind of block thats compatible with the above brakes that will allow me just to replace the pad?
it seems that perhaps koolstop or swisstop might do the trick but they only sell the replacement in an alloy pad compound and i would then have to buy the carbon compound on top of the price to replace what they come with - i cannot find anywhere that i could buy them already with the carbon compound in them....?
could i perhaps buy some kind of really cheap replacement thats compatible with really expensive kool/swisstop carbon pads, so i dont spend oodles of cash?
I also run a winter bike thats got V's would like to do something similar, they are bog standard tektro pads on there at the mo...
again swisstop seems to fit the bill :

but, again, i'd have to then buy a set of carbon pads to replace what they came with.
anyone any idea's i'd be very grateful!
Thanks
Tony
Pretty sure that you could just fit any pad you wanted to those calipers.
What SbZ said. Standard sized road brake blocks.
but i would have to buy them as carbon padded 'shoes' / 'blocks' rather than just straight pads?
Looking at wiggle, you'll probably have to buy the shoes/inserts (for non-carbon wheels) then the carbon pad inserts in addition.

yup clubber, thats what i was trying to avoid, you see you can get what i want but shimano :

i cannot get them in campy without having to buy the shoe holders first (with standard pads that i would have to dump) and then carbon specific pads ...
hmmmm
Shimano complete shoe/pad assemblies will work fine with campag calipers.
What wheels are you getting? I'm asking because I'm a bit suprised that you're getting full carbon wheels if you don't know this stuff - are you sure they're not carbon wheels with alumninium rims?
no they are full carbon clincher wheels, and if it were MTB brakes there would be no gap in my knowledge but these roady rim brakes .... well, lets just say i could not understand why is was not easy to find anywhere that stated direct carbon rim campag replacement blocks, and instead everything was either 'cartridge inserts' or 'shimano only blocks' -
it didnt sound right to me that my only option was to buy 2 sets of high end kwik/swiss stop blocks then dump those pads and get carbon pads to go in them...
Looks like my option for above is perhaps to get Aztec or BBB replacement blocks that are quite cheap and 'pad replaceable' to replace my campag ones, and then get some better quality carbon pads for those ....
Basically, they're expecting people buying full carbon wheels to be using higher spec brake calipers which come with replaceable pads... Veloce and full carbon wheels is not maybe the most common combination...
Your last suggestion sounds about right.
thanks clubber for your time and knowledge!!!!! much appreciated!
jeez it maybe cheaper to upgrade my brakes and then buy the pads!
http://www.parker-international.co.uk/15860/Campagnolo-Veloce-10-Dual-Pivot-Brake-Callipers.html - even cheaper.
Something like this any good?

Shimano complete shoe/pad assemblies will work fine with campag calipers.
Be careful with that statement. My campag shoes won't fit my Shimano brakes - the Campy brake shoe bolt is too wide to fit into the Shimano 'slot' in the caliper.
something to throw into the mix, there was an article in one of the US mags on which brake blocks to use with which carbon rim. Some rims should be cork blocks and some rubber blocks.
aweeeeeesome robh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cheaper than anything ive seen. why do things like that dont show up on google-shopping!!!
