i've been going through my boxes of bike bits in the garage (about to build up a Hummingbird) and I've found a pair of Vistalite light units and various cables similar to the picture below.
The nightsticks are knackered (torn them apart and chucked the li-ion batteries in a recycling box) and I've been using a rebadged Trailtech HID light during the past few winters which I'm currently driving with a 14.8v LiPo battery pack. It is quite a heavy set up and involves me running the battery pack cable along the top tube to a saddle pack on my commuting bike.
The more compact vistalite units take a 6V MR11 bulb.
My questions are:
(a) what's the best LED replacement for the MR11? How many lumens? I've seen a Cutter kit but it looks expensive and fiddly to do (might as well go for a troutlight instead)
(b) can I drive the LED replacement with a LiPo battery (to make use of my smart charger) - perhaps a 7.4v battery pack? I'd like to create a small battery set up which could be mounted on a handlebar or on the top tube.
Cheers
Craig
