I've got a 2011 epic, which is in need of a service for the front and rear shocks, but have a feeling that the rear shock, which i believe needs to be sent off to Speclialized could be expensive, and as this is a 26" frame, would it be cheaper to just transfer the bits to a frame&fork combo of similar travel, as i see 26" frames and forks from a few years back are pretty cheap nowadays?
Would like to keep this bike as it's nice, but if it's going to be 300 quid plus to get both shocks done, then i'm not so sure it's the best option, anyone done similar?
I know Mojo used to service ‘em back in the day. It’s a fox shock with a Spesh branded ‘Brain’ no?
TBH, on the Stumpjumper at least they were largely largely considered shit, Mojo would delete the brain as part of a service.
Servicing costs would still be high i'm guessing, and not getting the full shock done as well, i think the air can is damaged a little, so i might start hunting round for an older 26" full sus frame and forks combo, everything seems to be 27.5 and 29 now so 26" must be getting cheaper to get these days
Had one on a carbon Epic, and it was nothing but trouble. It was a Specialized branded one, made of swiss cheese and a big drain on my bike budget....it was the main reason i got rid.
What size is the shock? Might be worth just buying a replacement.
Plush suspension are now the uk official service centre for all things Spesh brain.
