Ok, it isn't 12/11 or even 10 speed (or SS for that case!) but it's still XT!

Anyway, building up a baby carrying bike and rear mech shifts up fine but parallagram feels stiff and doesn't really downshift. Soaked it in degreaser with no benefit. Any way of improving the spring? Any ideas from the old school fraternity?

Thanks

Chris

Shift up means moving to a smaller cog. Is that what you mean? I presume not, usually this is a cable issue.

Doh...I should know that really! Nope, shifting down fine, but shifting up (to a smaller cog) is crap!

Mech is off the bike now so definitely not a cable issue. Still feels stiff to return.

It's around 27 yrs old. I think you should let it rest...

Corrosion on the pivots I guess.

Try something acidic?

27years...I reckon I can tease it along for another couple!

Found a bolt was rubbing slightly...sanded down and bit smoother.
