[#2577024]

I've been off the bike for nearly 4 weeks now, and set to be off it for at least 2 more months, but likely more.

So, your Friday afternoon sympathies, please, especially as we're rapidly heading for the best time of the year for biking.

Ho-hum ๐Ÿ™

Simple version - I have a sore bottom, meaning I can't sit on a saddle without considerable pain/discomfort. Just spent 4 days in hospital and no one is any the wiser, so waiting on results of biospies which will take 6 weeks before I get an appointment. Add in more waiting for possible surgery, etc...

druidh's idea is grand, actually, but there's no way I'm growing a beard and wearing sandles just to ride my bike ๐Ÿ˜‰

edit: ton - that's crap, I bet you can't wait! The weather will be braw for your glorious return!

I was going to say that's a bummer (really), but in light of your complaint I'll just offer my sympathies instead.

Just as the weather's looking up a bit as well.

Sharing your pain.

I've not ridden since Christmas week, and had much time off last year, due to silly niggly injuries.

Been doing a bit of running to try to keep fit, and then developed shin splints and now have a very unstable knee.

I reckon I'm still 2 weeks away from a road ride. Got 10k and half marathons and a triathlon planned for spring/early summer (nicely spaced out to avoid injuries!) but they are all looking doubtful now too.

Still, nice weather for G&T this afternoon ๐Ÿ™‚

But... someone needs to ride that ST4? raises hand

Sorry to hear you've still got problems mate. Not due to medical issues, but reckon I've had maybe 6 hrs mounted (...steady...) since Dec. 10th, whence mini-me arrived, & quite concerned over loss + age-related-never-get-back of fitness (not that it matters, as long as it benefits him). Being physically unable, though, is a right pi**er.
Dumb-ass (sorry) question - is pushing-up / DH off-the-saddle possible?? White Hill, long descent off Allermuir north (Byreside) for e.g.? Just for a little practice / fun?

off for nearly 4 weeks, pfff!

I fubared my ankle 4.5 months ago now....progress this week - I got my Orthopeadics appointment, yay! It's for late May....less yay.

It is frustrating, but try and find something else to do for a while....then enjoy the bike all the more whne you return to it?

Trouble is with my injury, and perhaps yours, most sport seems out....so I've been drinking and socialising instead ๐Ÿ˜€ Downside is I've gained a stone in weight ๐Ÿ˜•
Still, I might get to ride the Ti456 I bought 5 months ago SOMETIME!

I was off the bike from Sept 2009 until April 2010 due to a bad MTB injury, all I did in the meantime was buy new bits for the bike and fettle with it until I was able to ride again. ๐Ÿ˜€

By the time I was riding again I had a brand new bike! So there is an upside! Get well soon.

sorry to hear that Kit

have you considered whether any of those kerrazy "revolutionary" designs might work for you ?

(I've been off the bike for a couple of months just due to busyness and inertia ๐Ÿ˜ณ )

Kit - you don't need to sit down to ride a bike.
I rode with my saddle slammed for about 6 months one year.
get a BMX, you can't ride them sat down

Hope you get fixed soon, I've not ridden for 4 years now ๐Ÿ™
Had 2 kids, a knackered knee (operated on and hopefully fixed) and a flare up of ulcerative colitis which lasted 18 months keeping me away.
Hoping to go for my first ride of more than half a mile since 2007 tomorrow or sunday.

I can sympathise with how your feeling. I was off the bike for 3 weeks recently after hitting the tarmac on my road bike and loosing 3 of my front teeth amongst other injuries. Its horrible not being able to ride your bike but the good thing is that your not making it worse. Try to be patient and let it heal so that when you do get back on the bike you wont have to stop again.

It will be worth the wait though, those first few rides back are like rediscovering cycling

Best wishes ๐Ÿ™‚

Guys, sorry to hear about your injuries too, but it's nice (in a we're all in it together way) knowing I'm not the only one.

I'm a student so new bikes/bits are off the agenda (actually just bought a new one ๐Ÿ˜ณ ), but I'm going to try and work on getting fit other ways to keep me sane. I've been off for extended periods before, but always in winter so it's not really bothered me!

GW - true that about the BMX, I believe you offered to let me borrow one sometime? ๐Ÿ™‚

|Sore bottom?

An ingrowiwing hair?

A mate years ago ended up in agony due to an ingrowing hair. They couldnt see it, for whatever reason it had turned and grown back on itself, but there wasn't the usual red boil there.

Ended up in hospital getting it cut out and removed, all 4 or 5 inches of it.

I seem to recall he spent an hour or so with an expert of bottoms, having his pinched and squeezed in various places to narrow down the tender area before eventually finding it.

I had my first op on Wednesday, so that'll keep me off biking and running for 6 to 8 weeks. And I'll be recovered just in time to go back into hospital for another op and another couple of months off.

Still, could be worse.

Singlespeed the old banjo Kit, if you feel the need to sit down, fit a bigger gear. And you'll get fit. Get well soon.
