So a mate has decided to (road) ride Lands end to John o'Groats. Got me thinking and discussing with him one of our long term plans to do a week+ riding round Scotland, combining riding, beer n whisky. The route would not be a 'point to point', happy to simply link in some of the best riding and social life.
*heads off to get maps, glass and the Dalwhinnie*
If only someone had a GPX file of all the whisky distilleries.
If they were Scottish they would never give it to some immigrant English bloke - that would be careless.
12 distilleries, several micro breweries and lots of excellent public houses. Touring burns up to 9000 calories a day so boy can you eat 🙂
personally i'd just stay on Islay for a week and get right merry.

Ah, gwahhn 😀
Hmm - it's certainly a project.....

Plus there's Fochabers and Ben Aigan close to these distilleries and myself or others could show you some class riding in the area. You could probably spend a whole month linking distilleries with rides. Never looked into it as whisky has been known to make me a bit punchy!
We MTB'd the whisky triangle in 1996ish, I was really sloshed and struggling by the end. It was Tamnavulin, Tomintol and Genlivit in Speyside.
Ticklinjock - your map is out of date 🙂
you can add Kilchoman to that list. Sat next to a bottle of their first release right now
The Malt whisky trail in Moray & Speyside can be done nearly all off-road.

Taking in some good trail centres (Forres / Fochabers & Ordiequish) and plenty of natural singletrack and cycleways.
On road is a good call too with great scenery and quiet B Roads linking all the distilleries.
Did a Speyside circular many moons ago starting and finishing in Elgin. Was a great trip with one of the highlights ridding up Glenlivet and down Glenfiddich. Just Love that whisky shop in Tomintoul.
