Car park shot prior to it's first run out (sorry about poor quality - point and shoot and it was about to rain so light was not good):

Tyre / valve comments are null and void as I am still awaiting new wheels (819 on Pro 2 Evo) to complete the build properly...... actually they probably aren't as I won't line them up when I get the new wheels anyway! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Apart from that after the first ride the only change needed is to shorten the seatpost hose a bit I reckon?

Initial impressions were good. All the marketing flannel about the DW link is true! It doesn't bob and climbs very well (for reference it has replaced a Cove Hustler). Lighter weight was noticable (my scales say 30 lbs near enough bang on). Descending it was great once I got used to the lower headtube and therefore overall height of front end - forks / bars / stem were transferred from Hustler.

Switching to 2x10 drive chain was easier to get used to than I expected.

That suggests you'd not test ridden on previously?
That musta been a scary prospect for such an expensive frame (though admittedly it always get glowing reviews).

I had a go on HeiHei's Mojo HD which he's just switched into 140mm mode. I'd ridden it before and thought it was 'ok' but within about 30m of riding it in the lower travel setting the only words I could get out were '**** me!'.

In the shorter travel setting that thing is like a cruise missile and corners like a Lotus.

I would absolutely agree on the very direct and immediate sense of power transfer when pedaling hard and the reward axle path is very noticeable, but in a seemingly good way.

HeiHei's also has Carbon Haven Wheels which are also just incredible.

Mad Pierre, shortening the hose on the Reverb is simplicity itself. There's a video on YouTube:

I did mine yesterday and it took about 10 minutes. It's harder to make the cuts in the hose at the barb end than it looks and you need to cut through the plastic outer, the kevlar like jacket and the inner plastic tube before it will come off of the barb, but once you've done that, all you need do is cut and press the hose back onto the barb.

30lbs with a carbon frame, XTR and RS Rev?

Are you sure your scales are working right? I'd have thought it'd be more like 27lbs, maybe less.

I have a Blur LTc with very similar kit thats the same weight, these bikes are built to take a bit of abuse and be incredibly stiff. There are lighter versions if it s light bike you want

I can't believe it weighs 30lbs either. The frame weighs 2.8kg (6.3lbs). My Nicolai Helius AM frame weighs 3.1kg and the full bike build weighs 29.5lbs, with a Fox 36 fork, reverb, and Mavic 819 wheel.

MadPiere's Mojo weighs a little more than my Nic and yet he has a lighter frame and fork. That means he's carrying at least 2lbs weight elsewhere. It's possible but more likely the scales are out (my quoted weights are using Park digital scales).

A Blur LTc at 30lbs is even more incredulous considering that the even heavier and stiffer Carbon Nomad is heavier still lighter than the Mojo. What have you got on it billet steel?

Wheels & tyres arn't light at all, along with the Reverb. Looks like a realistic weight to me.

Revelation XX WC, XTR 9 speed, Hope ProII on 819's, swampthings (a source of some of the weight but it is winter), Joplin III, RaceFace SIXC bars, in fact look below

There are some people on here which aren't truely honest about weights on here. Mine was weighed as above only with the swampthings on, maybe take a pound off with summer tyres but that still 28-29lbs. Which to be honest i'm happy with, as i'm sure is the OP.

Scales are some cheapy suitcase weighing ones from Tesco but I reckon they are about right?

Main thing to me is its lighter than the Hustler it replaced. The actual numbers don't matter. It's just relative.

Cheers for the vid but already read the instructions on shortening the hose and it looks easy. I only didn't do it before riding due to last minute night before going away build completion!

Yep. Took the plunge without a test ride! However tube lengths and angles were studied in relation to what I know and many reviews read.

Neil - lovely bike. Like the colour, love the build. Very nice.

I completely agree with you on the weight honesty thing and if you're happy with the weight that's all that matters (although my motivation for going carbon would be to save weight over what i have now).

It's just that you're build is more or less identical to my Nic. Same cranks, bar, wheels, equivalent seat post, even the tyres are more or less the same.

The key differences are that my Nic weighs is 1x10 (which saves about 1lb) and I run a Fox 36, which is probably 1lb heavier than your Revelation, so those two difference cancel each other out and yet your's weighs the same as mine while my frame weighs 3.1kg and yours weighs 2.7kg.

I guess what I'm trying to say is you're bike is probably a good few lbs lighter than what you think it is.

I was just saying I think 30lbs is a bit high, and I suspect it's actually lighter than that.

But as long as Pierre is happy with his lovely new bike then so am I.

Don't know about 'no bob'. My mate has a Mojo and it seems to bob an awful lot when I'm following it (which I invariably am, 'cos he's much fitterer than me). It certainly bobs more than my 5.

As GeeTee says, am loving mine in the 140 setting around the Surrey Hills. I'd run it at 160mm for Lakes etc though.
Failedengineer - you're right, they do bob, the HD more so than the regular. Still love the susp design though!

OOh missed this earlier.

Looking good. Hate sending out frames and selection of bits and never seeing them together.

Just ordered another demo model today, 140 Vit P on it's way... been pretty popular!

Cleaned the weekend's muck off last night and shortened the seatpost hose - the hose shortening was as easy as it looks and took 5 minutes.

Just awaiting adapter to put a 180 disc on the back (should be on it's way) and Mr Hope to send Mr Bikechain some hubs...

It will then just need riding a lot! ๐Ÿ™‚

On the bob front - it didn't look like it was when I looked down while going up fire roads unlike my Cove. Maybe my pedalling is smooth but I doubt that very much! Certainly didn't feel it.

Which rear brake adaptor did you use in the end? Did I win a Jammie Dodger?

ooh, that's nice. Like the white more than I thought it would. Did that come as a 140, or did you get the shock swapped out?

Funny about the bob thing- I've never thought of mine as bobbing, always noticed the suspension as active under pedalling, but it doesn't seem to make much difference how scrappy my pedalling got.

Props, +1, bike of the day, sorted, knuckles etc.

That whole 'buy before you try' business is really dodgy. I have been tempting myself to get one since it came out but am not sure it's slack enough; plus I am super scared of breaking it on rocks (loads of them around here)

Anyway. Lovely bike, well done.

PS Check out this Spanish thread. Most seem to fit an angleset for more slackness.

Yeah you did. I said so in that thread. It's got the 160 on at the mo but Magura adapter ordered. Might put my Venti discs on too? Heavier but they look pimp and won't cook on big hills.

Bikechain converted a 160 they had in stock for me - hence the lack of wait.

Keh? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyone run their HD 140 with 160 fork? Sounds like it might be a good setup. Similar angles to the 160. A lower BB than the 160 HD. Maybe better pedalling due to less travel. Just a thought.

It's what I'm planning to do as well... might use the angleset to bring the HA back up a touch, but we'll see... might even wind it out a touch more for uber-slackness up front! nice to have options 8) eventually... ๐Ÿ˜ก

Been looking at a few mismatched travel bikes and can't really understand why it's not more common. Quite like the idea of a super slack low BB bike.

Psychle, how long you been waiting? I'm tempted to get one of these for the summer, should I get on a waiting list now?
