Hadn’t cycled or worn the spd shoes for a ling time and after a prolonged cycle my fore foot and toes have been numb for a few days. Anyone had a similar experience of this? I’ve done a bit of reading and rest seems to be the main thing but thought it would have gone by now.
Never had them go numb but have had a lot pain in that area before after riding for a few hourse. I switched to dual spd/flats so I could ride unclipped for a bit and change foot position and it seemed to help. Wider shoes helped a bit as well. ymmv of course
I reckon it's probably nothing to do with anything directly connected to your feet and more likely to be a compressed sciatic nerve, possibly compressed in your glutes or lower back. I suspect that the cycling triggered the compression.
Edit : This is the telling aspect of the problem imo :
"my fore foot and toes have been numb for a few days"
Disclaimer : I am not medically qualified.
Shoes too narrow, stance too narrow, metatarsal button needed. Could be a few things.
Narrow shoes caused it for me.
Could be any number of issues, Had numb/tingling hands feet for 20+years when cycling but docs weren't interested, just told me to keep warm or avoid cold weather. Turned out to be undiagnosed MS /SPMS.
