We're off to visit family at Easter in Suffolk. We've pedalled a bit there, and so plan is to daunder back in the camper and do a few rides, and I need to drop into a distant relative in Lincoln on the way back.

Suggestions of nice routes for road & off road for do it all bikes please.

Also, any nice quiet campsite recommendations.

There's 2 routes in Lincolnshire in the Lost Lanes Central book

E.g.

drop into a distant relative in Lincoln

There's a nice there and back pedal from/to Lincoln/Woodhall Spa. Follows the River Witham. Done it twice starting from Woodhall Spa when on holiday. Ride in to Lincoln, get some food, then return leg including pub stops 😁

Water Rail Way

Peddars Way is a lovely ride to get a feel for the place. You get a bit of the Brecks and then the rolling countryside up to the coast of North Norfolk.
You might have a problem with logistics having the van.

The in-laws live just outside Norwich so I often take the bike down and do some exploring when we visit. Some really nice routes, great rolling countryside and above all some excellent pubs to stop in.

Weavers Way, Marriott's Way, Peddars Way and Bure Valley Railway path all worth exploring.

Steep Hill

TBF, we found steep hills in Suffolk.

They just only went up or down 38.5 metres... 😆

Iirc, I think Suffolk has somewhere a lofty 100m high? I presume Norfolk is more uppy downy...

There’s a road from the beach up to Kelling Heath which is as steep as anything I’ve found on the Yorkshire Dale’s. Admittedly, is not a big climb but it’s properly steep.
I first found out towing the two kids and all of the beach and picnic kit back up to the campsite! 😀

Best/most interesting riding is probably east of Lincoln. If you can drive out to Wragby you could do a good loop into the Wolds from there. The rolling hills are pleasant… as long as it’s not too blowy.

Strava will put a decent loop together out there as there’s not much other than fields and villages to get in the way.

Some good long bridleways.

Lincolnshire Wolds is beautiful.
I have a mate in Horncastle and have been on some memorable rides that part of the country.

It seems that the Lost Lanes wolds ride is perfect - I think we will shorten a tad and not go into Lincoln.

Norfolk has a lot of long distance paths - currently planning a loop around the Broads and a train assisted out and along the coast.

That looks pretty decent.

I had schoolmates that lived in Goulceby/Mkt Stainton and the Dad of one of them had made a tandem from two old postie bikes. The only time I’ve ever been on a tandem was to and from the pub when we were about 14. Discombobulating on the way home.

Some of the Rebellion Way might be useful inspiration?

I did half of the Rebellion Way last summer and loved it. It's more roady than I would prefer, but great anyway.

That's good to hear, I'm pondering it for my bikepacking ride this year after doing KAW last year and possibly being after something a little easier going.

I did an excellent ride in the area last year across a couple of days. First half was a variation of the rebellion way from Knettishall Heath up to West Acre (home of the excellent Duration Brewery), where we bivvied overnight. then back next day down the Peddars Way to Knettishall. Think it was about 100k in total, pretty easy riding (did it on a fixie!) and some beautiful countryside.

Bure Valley (from Wroxham) path into Marriotts way and back into Norwich is a good one. It should have dried out by Easter, currently it'll be a muddy mess.

Peddars way is another good one.

We have a off road loop around Sheringham we do often (with cake stop) - if we're out the weekend you're visiting you're more than welcome to join us. Not sure it'd be great on a gravel bike though. Hardtail mtb would be ok.

We could take MTB, it's all a compromise.
