My (converted) SS drivetrain seems to make more noise than it should. As far as I can tell chainline is good, but I'm using a 1/8 chain ('cos I didn't pay attention when buying) while everything else is 3/32- would this be expected to run more noisily?

I also used a 1/8 chain(1/2 link) and found it noisy. I have put back a cheap 3/32 and its quietey quiet. I found the 1/8 had too much give over the chainring.

It's not like a bag of hammers or anything but it does seem noisier than it should be. Will give a 3/32 a try.

I put a new 1/8 pc1 on 3/32 rings - sounded awful.

The rear sproket had 'shark-finned' a little, replacing it with a new 3/32 sorted it out.

I oiled my chain - amazing what a difference that can make.

I bought a 'proper' single speed and it works - shocker....

Are you using a tensioner? If the tension in the tensioner is set very high then I've found it can make the whole thing noisy.
