Anyone have much experience installing a hope bb in a niner biocentric II ebb?
Building up a niner Ros9 frame and got to installing the BB this evening, went in fine for the first half a dozen turns and then got progressively more stiff, took it back out and it looks to be a slight tolerance issue between the two as the anodising inside the tread of both seems to be stripping as I’m threading it in. I’ve basically got as far as greasing it well, installing it until it gets stiffer than I’m comfortable with, removing, cleaning and repeating the process, but then ran out of time before I’d got the DS cup installed. It’s definately not cross threaded.
Basically what I’m asking is, has anyone had this before, anything to worry about? Any tricks? Ta!
Your ABSOLUTELY sure they are going in the right way, & totally square ? 🙂
Not tried Hope in my SIR.9, but had an old King in there & plenty of std Shimano HT2’s.
Do currently have a Hope in my Puffin EBB, went in with no issues.
The anodising shouldn’t be more than about 20 microns thick, so unlikely to worry the thread much. I’d pop it to a bike shop to gently run a tap through it. Plenty of oil.
All problems I've ever had with installing BBs have been due to alignment. I have a Biocentric on my ti commuter with a Shimano BB and no issues at all.
Hmm, okey doke. Sadly won’t be able to have a look until next week at least.
I’m %99.9 sure it’s going in right because although there’s resistance its still able to screw in, there’s just more resistance than I’ve experienced with other BBs, if it was cross threaded it would have been wedged long ago. Maybe I’ll run it to a lbs as you say and get them to have a look over it. Cheers.
