[Closed] Nice and pretty wall mounted bike storage

I am over run with bikes and need to keep a few in my living room. In an attempt to try and maintain some semblance of order and tidiness I was thinking of wall mounting 2 of them so they hang vertically in a empty space.

I can pick up some standard hooks of amazon for not much but does anyone have or has anyone seen something a bit nicer than plain metal hooks?

I have one of those Trophy bull wall mounts for a my road bike so was thinking something along that line. Ideally pretty cheap, but just a bit nicer than a plain old wheel hook!

Any ideas?

I had brake & Reverb issues storing my mtb vertically on a hook.

Something to bare in mind....

Handle bars facing up or down? Its going to be for road bikes so not too worried.

"I had brake & Reverb issues storing my mtb vertically on a hook."

what issues were those ? a properly bled reverb and brake set should have no air in to cause issue when stored anywhich way.....

poorly bled on the other hand and air will migrate to exactly where you dont want it.

I like the drop-handlebar option.

I've just bought several of these. They work well and are very sturdy. They need bending to accommodate MTB tyres or deep-section roadie rims (not too difficult to do).

As for whether my brakes/seat post will turn to mush when vertical, I'll have to wait and see. In theory if they're bled well it *shouldn't* matter.

Superficial - Yeah I have something similar in my porch for my HT and it works great. Its just as I was moving stuff into the living room I wanted something a bit prettier or colourful or not quite as industrial! I think that I may have to go down the plain black or metal hook option though.

You can hang them by the wheels from those bars too

I've been looking at this sort of thing for some MTB's I need to hang on the wall.. Haven't found a suitable solution for wide MTB bars. ๐Ÿ™

If you angle the bracket on the wall, you can have the bars turned 45* so bikes will stack closer. Unfortunately you also need to put a wedge behind the bracket to stop the bike swinging too far around. So it is possible with hanging brackets but it requires a good think about the geometries involved.

If you're happy with the rear wheel sitting on the floor then have a look at the clug mounts, work well, very discreet but a tad expensive for what they are.

I saw the Clug mounts and they look nice. I don't think they would hold an MTB tyre though? I realised that i need to store 1 road bike and one MTB not 2 x road bikes! Otherwise I could have gone for a sweet drop bar mount.

I've used the hooks you refer to. I hung quite a few bikes from a wall with them, took a step back and realised that due the the handle bars, they take up a lot of room still.

I bought some s-hooks on ebay too and have been hanging the bikes from the front axle, with the bars at 90 degrees. The front wheel then hangs off the headtube or wherever using the s-hook. You can get a bike to take up about 12" that way and still have easy access to get them down.

I didn't bother removing the wheels on road bikes as they only take a little bit more space, so long as you alternate them so the bars aren't sat next to each other.

Have a search on pinterest for 'Bike storage' - there's loads of ideas that would look (relatively...) good in a sitting room.
