Here it is folks, my new video, served chilled but now with added super-duper widescreen.
"The Loneliness of the Urban Night Rider"
I know, I know it breaks quite a large number of STW taboos and all, but the STW London Posse will know where I am coming from.
Oh, and Mr Nutt, the monkies were all in their little monkey beds when I recorded this, so it's safe for you to watch.
Click on the pic below for three and half minutes of sublimely chilled XC urban riding, a little bit deeper, a little bit darker

Pirates ftw.
can we have a link please: no photo to click on linux ๐
I enjoyed it.
Taboos, yeah break 'em.

Right-on you Linux people
Here's the link

I can't help thinking about what Princess Diana might have been thinking if she was thinking about riding in Gibraltar at night?
Probably something along the lines of "those furry little needle tooth faced bastards, I'll slit their ****ing throats in their sleep the little bastards", I like to think that should Princess Diana still be alive she would have collected those hairy little shits up in a lorry and driven them across a mine field. She was like that, selfless in her hatred of tiny monkeys.
possibly?
oh and where's your ****ing helmet you psycho!
I like that Simon - nice chilled evening.
Whats with teh planks on the steps?
I'm impressed, you've made the vid the same length of time as it took me to boil the kettle and make a cuppa..
Now what was the video of?
Taboos broken...
No helmet
No lights
Pirate hat
Not riding a 6" carbon all-mountain full-susser
Not a single-speeded rigid steel 29er frame with panniers and calliper brakes
No beard
Not set in Yorkshire
Is that it?
did the dog pee on your camera (or in your shoes?)
You sir are a p155 taker, I particularly liked the way you pulled back your hoddie before setting off.
Three & a half minutes of pure contrived nothing of interest, how do you do genius?
(I think I've just asked the wrong person)
squeaky brakes!!
Gnargnar
I had to google FTW and came up with various variants. Am still not too sure if you liked the video or not.
Nothing wrong with pirates ๐
Buzz and Matt
Cheers. Matt - you can also add riding tracks more cheeky than a week's riding with SFB. Rudeboy and his gang got a bit slated for riding on pavements, I seem to have escaped that. Other taboos - v shonky riding (although I left off one clip where I get some airtime as the shot was too dark, honest), jazz funk, Etnies and yeah, squeaky brakes, or basically braking in general where others would have just flown down heh.
Mr Nutt
Hi - I don't need a helmet as I had been watching Jedi's videos prior to filming and didn't crash once. Well, err - actually there are some embarrasing outtakes, which brings me to
Steve
I live on the side of a very steep rock, and rather than roads in the Old Town there are also "ramps". These are stepped roads that have concrete ramps for mopeds. Those "planks" are concrete, and can be incredibly steep (I had to reshoot a few things a few times :-)). I assume they are for prams and wheel barrows etc.
Muddy Fix - no - I am at one with the animal kingdom and I think I caught the dog post p.
And finally 2unfit2ride
I am a man who has to suffer for his art. No one raised a statue to a critic. This isnt prentious w***, it is deeper than deep, you just need to go back and watch a number of times to begin to delve into the deeper meansing and symbols. I add a certain missing ingedient that is missing from the likes of Kranked, Roam, New World Disorder - U dig?
Very cool vid, great tunes but WTF the fek is that on yr head? ๐
ps What is the tune?
The missus just asked if I was watching 70's porn. Nah - just piratey porn.
One word: Incredible.
The cans on the pirate on the left are making me go all funny ๐ฏ
Amy
Cheers!
RepacK
It's a bandana. It may not have looked it but there was quite a cold wind that night.
It wasn't just me who lived through the acid house years was it? I mean how controversial can a mere bandana be?? ๐
The tune was "Summer's Gone" by Zelijko Kerleta and is on my friend Russ Dubury's Afro and Latin jazz compilation "Jazz Bizniz 2."
Oh and I forgot to add I yearn for praise from Pook. He posted a chilled video a month or two back with some ground style camera angles. That's when I thought I'd have a go with my Singletrack vid and this one. When I get praise from the great man Pook himself i know I shall have finally made it.
There were some other shots too I didn't get as there was a gang of kids hanging around and they were expecting me to do all sorts of tricks and all. Quite embarrassing really when I can't even wheelie heh.
Just watched this - splendid. (pirates - yarrrr ๐ )
(though seems to me they used all the good tracks on "Jazz bidniz I", I didn't know the smurfs back catalogue had made it across genres)
did that litlle dog come back & piss on your camera at the end ?
Hello all.
do you mean this video simon?
[url=
pootle, ran out of memory after first climb though
"Scooz me 'av yoo got a cigarette pleez....CHECK ME YOUR KONA" !!!!
God I hate London, Gibraltar looks much more safer and fun
I just got confirmation from someone "in the know" that if I simply turn right instead of left on one of my "urban routes" I run the very likely risk of getting scalped by large groups of "yootz" with knives and guns, (oh and my bike nicked). I guess that's called urban "enrichment".
Cue RudeBoy's pitiful response telling me I'm a nazi hate filled evil bastard....
Pook
Hi - just had a look through some of your vids (ncie tune on that one) but I don't think it is there.
I think it was a singlespeed vi with canal footage, and some woods, and then some out-takes at the end with you running back up a hill to the camera.
Maybe it wasnt you or maybe I drempt it or something??
Enfht
Yeah - Gibraltar is something like the third most safest country in the world. V little crime, and most of the crime here are locals drug smuggling. The government appear to be corrupt as heck mind but that's another story.
Well having never ridden a single speed in my adult life, it can't have been me.
Shame, as I was feeling quite good being given guru like video editing status.
Oh well.
Pook - sorry about that but yeah - have enjoyed your vids too. Liked the Stainburn one but then that used to be my local haunt (although didnt ride it that often as it was too hard - mainly rode Dalby).
I enjoyed that Simon, well done! Music went well with it too.
No Si I was there too, at least I think I was.. ๐
I liked it - could have flown down some of those steps though...
Always nice to see another 05 Caldera rider.
why are you wearing someone's pants on your head?
๐
Cheers CG
Ji - yeah, the lighting is really yellow, and with a decent camera and a rider such as your good self the video would really be a whole differen t ball game. There really cannot be that many riders slower or more shonky down the steps, but hey, I've never claimed to be a riding god, I just enjoy getting out and about.
RD - I always wear those underpants on my head when out riding heh
