Bought a 2010 mojo SL frame (with the boost valve) yesterday.
Is there anything out of the ordinary that I should consider when building it up?
Ive got the following for the build:
Large Ibis mojo SL with lopes link (my GF had a medium which was too small – I’m 5 11")
Cane creek IS3 headset
2010 Revelation Team 120 - 150
Hope Tech M4 (183f - 183r)- Braided hoses
DT swiss EX1750 wheels - 20mm f - QR r
Saint rear mech & shifters - Carbon SRAM flak jacket cables
XT front mech
Hope ceramic BB - in red to match the lopes link! 😆
XT Crank - 22 - 36 double
Thomson post
Thomson 70mm or 80mm stem (im going to try both)
monkeylite bars - lo rise
DX m647 pedals
Fizik GOBI XM saddle
I’ve weighed it all individually and the full build including cables cassette etc only comes in at 25.7lbs which I can’t believe & coming from an orange Five AM which weighed 30lbs I can’t wait to try it out.
Ill get some pics later when it’s built up.... hopefully
well i dont see tyres, tubes, chain, grips so that might add a bit.
sounds nice though, enjoy! (and id try a shorter stem if it were me)
Saint on that? Surely it's crying out for a lighter groupset?
DX m647 pedals weigh a bit too.
very similar build to mine, picking the frame up on sunday, cant wait... have to agree with atlaz tho:
Saint on that? Surely it's crying out for a lighter groupset?
think saint is a bit overkill for a bike this light, should go XT/XTR pending funds...
I agree with atlaz a lighter group set would be more suited.
think you will find ibis reco max 160 rear rotor, i run a single pot rear brake and a 4pot at the front more than enough, as you have choosen the sl you realy need to give it as many lite parts as possible, mine has a nice dt swiss 150 fork up front with 2009 crossmax slr wheelset full xtr drive/gears and hope to stop it oh and a joplin post. stem and bars need sorting when i bring it out again in the spring
Saint on that? Surely it's crying out for a lighter groupset?
eh? He's only got saint shifers & rear mech? How much weight would XT really save? Maybe a few grams on the mech, but I doubt much at all on the shifters...
My mate has one built with full XTR, carbon DT forks, Carbon finishing kit, Juicy Ultimates in 203mm front & back and stans summit on american classic hubs.
Weighs in at under 24lbs, Stiff built it up so they put the brakes on it, surely if it's only meant to have a 160mm rear they would've said that?
The weight above does not include chain (I need to buy one)but does include the tyres, tubes, cassete etc
Most of the parts come off the Five hence the saint stuff. Its all 2009 and has the blingy gold bits which I like (the shifters are actually lighter than some XT I had lying about & dont have windows, which i prefer) - I was going to buy a XTR chainset, rear mech & shifters when I bought the frame yesterday but i wimped out.
Im not going for a super light build (more AM) hence keeping the pedals, I only quoted the weight as I was so suprised.
Steed 😐
A Joplin works (when it's working) really well with the Mojo.
+1 Sharkbait
You might wanna drill a hole in the BB shell as well. Mine normally soaks up water like a sponge in the winter...hasn't been ridden since October though...
Doesn't sound like any type of horse I know of ❓
+2 sharkbait 😳
+3
Could be worse could be a "rig".
Doesnt a Saint mech need a Saint hub ?
(Mech mounted on axle or am I totally bereft of any usefullnesssness).
Doesnt a Saint mech need a Saint hub ?
Nope, its a standard fitting.
Sounds like a good build im on a large as well currently with a 90mm stem going to drop to 70mm.
Great bike enjoy it !

That's a nice looking rigsteed you have there shredder.
shredder,
How tall are you perchance?
I think ill have probs with the standard QR (coming from a maxle rear end) - should i upgrade to 10MM axle? (i think my ex1750 have the same hubs as yours) - if so, what do i need?
Also - what size rotor are you running on the rear?
Ta much she is indeed a good rigsteed the old girl 😉
Is there anything out of the ordinary that I should consider when building it up?
Don't call it a 'steed' and you'll be fine.
shredder; my fave looking bike is the Mojo. My fave colour for a bike is white.
You sir are a git 🙂 8)
(I actually like my white labrador-dragging-its-arse Mk 1 Nomad almost as much but it lacks white forks..)
Hi Oxnop im 6ft tall bang on. Thats just what I did upgraded the hub to a 10mm using this;

with this
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=21670
or better still this

Which I have fitted to my other bike a Orange 5 I payed for it with Paypal and it came in around a week email Eric. Really quality bit of kit and better than the DT one in the link above, which I also have fitted to the Mojo.
I have 183 front 160 rear and as I say I run a Tech M4 caliper front with a Tech X2 caliper at the rear. No problems stopping at all superb brakes the latest Hopes.
Cheers
it'll weigh more, they always do
And as mentioned previously, any claim of weight must be backed up by a photo of said bike on scales showing said weight.
And none of this without pedals crap.
My standard Mojo is a large. I am 5.11 running a 70mm.
Great bikes. New Rev suits much better than 2009.
Running Elixer 160 out back. 185 front.
Full SRAM X0
Did and ejoyed Transwales on it. Also rode some tastey trails with Dales Bike centre.
I like running a very low front end on it. Big but light tires.
Worth Heli taping key areas. Also use chainstay protector on seat stay.
Take your time cutting cables. They can rub your legs when cycling. I would obviously also recomend Gore Ride On Cables for stress free riding
It looks like a really nice build! I agree with others about the saint stuff being overkill... You shouldn't need a 10mm kit though, as the ex1750 come with a 10mm rws system as standard...
Cheers for all advice- realised the front mech I had would not work, so I'm off to get one as soon as the LBS opens.
Can't wait to get out it for a proper ride.
SAFK's- my wheels came with the 12mm and qr adapters & no RWS.
hi everyone
this is my superlight and i love it and it comes in 27lb inc joplin

hope m4s
just waiting for bushings to swap rp23 boost for dt swiss xr carbon to get it under 27lbs 🙂
