Hi,

I’m interested to see the thoughts on the new Evol. It looks like it could be the perfect good value UK trail bike. I’m tempted , especially with the cycle to work scheme making it a bargain.

Looks great and value is excellent as normal from sonder. Not in the market but if I was it’d be a contender. Only thing I’d add is the cortex may be more uk friendly but depends on the travel you want/need.

Cheers , I considered a Cortex but I’ve already got a Signal so that takes care of short travel duties.

I just think they make sorted bikes. My brother has a transmitter I steal from time to time and it’s great.

I saw the Evol, but I think the Cortex is the one for me.

As trivial as it sounds, i wish the Cortex came in the colours of the Evol...white, green or brown were a difficult list to choose from particularly if you didnt have a chance to see the frame in person

I'm currently running a Cortex and have been impressed with how capable it is, especially with the Inline shock, seriously considering the Evol in black though.

Just looked at the geo table for the new Evol and the headtube is really short at 95mm on the medium - which based on reach is the size I’d pick (if I wanted a new bike - and a 29er at that). Their chart has ‘tbc’ under stack, wheelbase, standover and one other measurement. So it’s hard to tell how it’s fit - but it might have a really low front end.

Other than that it’s still a good price for an alloy full suspension frame and shock.

It costs how much? Pretty impressive. Is the wheelbase figure out there yet?

The overall bike weights with a Lyric Ultimate are pretty good. Realistic do you think?
My bike with GX/Pike/Carbon wheels/Carbon Bars/Carbon Cranks is 13kg

The top two builds look great value.

In particular the one with the Lyrik.

Anyone own or ridden one? Seriously tempted but I need a bit more information before parting with the cash. Geometry on the website still looks a bit out - standover of 812mm - I'll need a set of steps to get on!

Nice ! How does it look in the flesh ? I’m considering getting one on cycle to work.

I've not built mine up yet...mid house renovation and other bike projects on the go as well!

The first frame had some damage and a QC issue which really should have been spotted before leaving them. A replacement frame was (slowly) sorted out by Alpkit which although not 100% will do.

Anyone got any further feedback on these?

Yeah I’d be interested to hear People’s thoughts. I’m looking at one of these to replace my cracked calibre sentry. The website sees me to say they all come with a 125 dropper which seems rubbish in this day and age! Can people confirm what size dropper comes on the large builds? Depending on funds I’m unsure whether I’d be going for yari/nx again or maybe something with a lyrik. Looks like the slx build has a yari. I’d be most keen in slx and a lyrik so it’s a shame they aren’t offering that combination. Will alpkit let you change spec? I’ve emailed but no reply yet.

You can spec a 150mm dropper, but it might arrive with a 125mm...

I've got a large GX/Lyrik spec. There was a fair bit of uncertainty about what it might arrive with during the ordering process. I'm waiting to hear back from CS as well.

I'd be tempted by either of those at that price but frame only and then spec up with parts you either have already or can get hold of.

As if by magic!

150mm dropper in the, err, post and 125mm to be returned.

Also, I opted to not pay the extra for tubeless set up and the rims arrived taped anyway so I only needed my own valves and goop and the alpha rims went up tubeless without a fuss and the vigilantes supplied were TCS versions.

Argh, not a 150mm, but another 125mm dropper arrived this morning! 🙄

Correct dropper arrived and fitted. Took it out for very gentle spin today. Tyre clearance on the NDS chainstay is very tight with the 2.5 Vigilantes. Think I'll have to find something smaller for outback.
