Just been out for my first little ride on my new Singlespeed- it's been built mainly out of bits from the classifieds and a bike I bought off of ebay in the summer- thanks to everybody who's sold me bits and whom I've bothered with emails!
As you can see, it's a Cotic Simple- Pace rigid forks, Thomson seatpost and stem, EC90 flat bars, XC717 rims with XC front and Pro2 SS rear hubs, ENO cranks and Mono Mini's. I've even lined up the rim/ tyre logo's ๐
The idea was to replace my Patriot with something needing less maintenance and more appropriate for my riding over the winter. It was also supposed to be a cheaper build so I had some money to put towards university fees, but I've accidentally spent a bit too much on it!
There's a few things I want to change; the stem is a little long, I'd like some lighter, faster rolling tyres, and I've dished the rear wheel totally wrong (the front is spot-on, tiny bit of bob but it's straight!), but other than that I'm really happy with it!
Let me know what you think!
The mould on the concrete and paint on the fence are a major let down. Sort yourself out.
Nice!! build, I miss my girlfriends simple great for tight singletrack and letting it rot in the shed.
Would have gone for Middleburn Uno over the WI I own both and middleburn wins hands down except for the blingness outta the box look but that soon goes after a few muddy rides.
Cheers for the comments Rich- I saw yours when I was searching around for inspiration!
There's a few things on the bike that I'd have done differently had I bought all of the components separately (quite a bit of it is from a complete bike I bought off of ebay)- the bars and cranks would have been top of the list! If I'd been spending WI sort of money and had the choice would have been Middleburn's, not least because they come in black! The ENO's do polish up lovely, but they don't really match anything else on the bike!
Also fancy new pedals, the new superstar flats look quite good, but will wait and see on longevity before I spend on them!
You get bonus points for a proper stem length too!
Jelous beyond belief! I'm waiting for my simple to be built as I'm waiting for Magura Durins to arrive. Enjoy the bike!!
