So it looks like my Brain Fade shock is dead and it's going to cost a fair amount to get it serviced.

I need a shock that is 7.75" x 1.75" but no one really sells those.

Would I be able to stick a 7.875 x 2 shock on there without it affecting the travel/geo much?

Bike is an 07 stumpy.

Cheers,
Martin

With 2 offset bushes it should be ok. Goldtec make the offset bushes.

To Rob above....

I don't see a 7.75x1.25 shock on those pages, am I missing something?

I've also had a google for the offset bushes but can't find any ๐Ÿ™

.125" = 3.2mm, you'd need to check it but I'd gamble it would work.

I would let all the air out of your current shock and compress the suspension to see if it can accommodate the extra travel of the new shock.

Martin, Yes - just do it.

I replaced the original shock on my 2007 Stumpy with a 200mm (7.87") eye-eye 50mm (2") stroke RP23 and there are no clearance issues.

It gives you another 15mm more travel at the back, you can see the linkage sits slightly flatter - this is the best thing you can do to what was already a great design. Rather than the original 120mm fork I have been running a 130mm float up front anyway but will soon be swapping to a 140mm which has come my way just to even things up a bit.

Check out this link: http://forums.mtbr.com/specialized/mounting-rp23-2007-stumpjumper-491501.html (you need to be a member to view the pics) They talk of the original 120mm fork being a spacered down 140mm anyway.
