So what do you lot think of the new Blur TR? Looks good to me, although it would have been cool to see a 650b version, or convertible dropouts on it?

Pricing on the US site indicates it will cost the same as the Blur LT.

I think they look spot on but

No UK pricing as yet but we’d expect it to be similar to the Blur LT at £1749 as a frame and shock

is the reason i won't be getting one.

According to that, there's only 167g difference between the TR and TRc

sounds fair price, less than an Orange 5!!

Very tempted to order.... it's either that or a trip back to the UK for a mates wedding and to see my new born niece....

Its obvious what you should, you just have to decide what colour to go for.

Sorry same price as the 5 with the CCDB Air which you will need to make it ride as nicely 🙂

If I get this bike (a) will i be able to ride like Josh Bryceland (b) will the frame still be covered under warranty if I ride it like Josh Bryceland?

I suspect the answer is no to both.

I always get tempted by bikes ridden by professional riders who make it look awesome. When I get my head out of the clouds I realise this is NOT how I ride - despite the fact I'd like to - and decide to look elsewhere. This bike sounds like a similar proposition to the Yeti ASR5 and I wasn't really good enough to make the most out of that either 🙂

I am indeed however not in a million years would I pay £1700 for an alu frame- if thats what it retails for. £1500 for a Orange Five is TOO much.

£1,749.00 according to this.

That's farking ridiculous for any frame let alone aluminium. They can shove that where it would be most uncomfortable.

I've got a Mk1 BlurLT

Its a nice bike but a bit on the chunky side and the bearings are a PITA.

The TR looks great, I like the idea of a fairly slack 5" travel frame but £1750 is a bit steep. So i'll be looking for a S/H one in a year or two

24" TT on it - have SC changed how they quote their TT lengths?

Nomad C now quoted at 603 - was sure they were crazy short in the past, but that seems normal enough

Sadly thats where they'll see the market is at. People will still buy it in their droves. I wont.

Why do people think £1700 is unreasonable? What are you comparing it to? Most full suss aluminium frames are coming around this price point as a frame only.

Whatever the cost (way out of my league) its a great marketing video by SC. How many riders are going to watch that and immediately *want* that frame ^^^ 🙂

I have to agree, Santa cruz have positioned themselves as a premium brand, fair enough, lots doing that. There's plenty of cheaper bikes out there like NP mega, Titus El guapo etc, plenty to choose from for less money, SC Heckler too.

And another +1.

It's not too expensive, it's too expensive for you. It's a small volume seller from a 'premium' brand. Or put another way, Ferrari eyes, Mondeo money. If you want a Santa Cruz for a grand, buy a Heckler...

Nothing wrong with that of course, it just means looking elsewhere for a bike that suits your needs from a more mainstream brand 🙂

Hardtail frame - £400
Shock - £300
A few bearings - £50

already proven design so no mega development cost.

Frame only prices in general are a joke.

But they are appealing to the high end / custom side of the market so they know they can get away with it (mostly)

Don't really care about the bike, as it has way to many pivots to be messing around with...BUT... Bryceland's riding is abosulutely nuts! What great style, looks like he's having a blast.

$1900 in the US, so depending on exchange rate (and rounding down), that would be circa £1200. So, £550 cheaper.

So, the better way would be to buy it yourself from the States? Shipping a frame from the US, with insurance is going to be $150+, so ~£100 to get it here. Then of course there is VAT, some customs fees & charges. Minimum of £250 really.

So, a couple of hundred quid cheaper in reality. then of course you better hope you don't need any warranty help, as that's going to get expensive, shipping it back to the USA.

I guess that's why everyone at Jungle & all the Santa Cruz UK dealers are lording it up with pots of cash everywhere 🙂

Is it really worth it for a couple of hundred quid??

I like it, but I'd probably get a grapil as the full build price point would be higher.

$1900 will not include sales tax.
So add on postage, Import Duty (14%) and 20% VAT and a bit of cash to deal with distribution, warranty and a demo fleet and then thats the price.
1900$ = 1200 Pounds, 1368 with Duty, 1641 with VAT leaving 159 difference to cover shipping and the rest....
I got an S-Works Enduro Frame in 2004 for 1000, add in inflation then that is 1260 in todays money.
The Tr also comes with a 5 year warranty, lifetime bearing warranty and crash replacement. Same price as plenty of other frames and cheaper than a lot more.

It may help that looking from Oz it will price a little better due to how strong the AU$ is opposed to how crap the pound is currently.

Looking forward to the 650b LT.

Bryceland is amazing eh? He could make some of the hardtail goon machines people ride on here look good.
